Landale is by far the worst backup Center in the NBA right now. The Pistons have a logjam at the Center position, and Wiseman is currently out of the rotation. I think he still has great potential to be a contributing role player, and if we can get him for cheap, he could be a great upgrade for our inadequate backup Center for Sengun. Since Monty Williams coached him last season, I think he would be interested in getting one of his former players on his Pistons team to help with their new system. Thoughts?
He's a busty bust. But I don't think he knows it yet. Once he learns he's a bust with a 15 mpg backup ceiling, then I'd be ok with giving him a shot.
The Pistons are 5-37 since trading for James Wiseman. There may be something there still, but it likely takes a long time to find it. I think they could look for a different center.
If were going to replace Landale (I sure hope so) then I would rather go for someone who is clearly an upgrade.
y’all give it up for the new “Rockets should sign Thabeet”…”Rockets should sign Anthony Bennett”…and “Rockets should give Thomas Robinson a chance” type of threads
Rookie season, he averaged 12/6...got injured his 2nd season, Warriors bailed on him to get win now players, had a bounce back season last year, but got new coach new system. I think there is still potential - heck, he's a better option than Landale. You sir need to get off the sauce...
Turning Wiseman into a productive player is probably even harder than locating the Random Trade Ideas thread, and we all know how difficult that is.
Someone alert @DaDakota! Since KPJ imploded and now we're passing on Kai Jones, he'll need a new reclamation project to back.
I don't think Wiseman would be the worst idea. His problem has never been his statistical production, he's a career 19 and 10 with 1.3 blocks per 36 minutes, with pretty good efficiency, and he has maintained that pace with Detroit. His problem is he sucks at defense and playing team-oriented basketball. I think we have the right staff to coach him up in those areas now. We wouldn't have under Silas, but we do now. He's still only 22. I wouldn't give him any minutes just for existing like we did with guys in the past. He'll have to earn them. But if the idea is just to throw him in the mix to compete with Landale and Uncle Jeff for playing time, I think that would be fine. Overall though, I think I would rather have a veteran like Andre Drummond, Bismack Biyombo, Kelly Olynyk.
