I would pay him as much as $12 million a year and feel good about it. This team could use some crazy and could sure as hell use some defense.
Not sure if he's the answer, but I really want to address the character / hothead issue: We crucify potential knuckleheads that get hot headed cause they want to win and compete, and then we roll out the red carpet and lick buttcrack for people who are p-whipped by their women and tell us they're all about the game when they're all about the money. Melo. Bosh. Applaud LeBron for leaving money & glamour and going back to his armpit of a hometown. I like Lance's grit & moxy. Not sure if it's a good fit though. Maybe a 6th man role?
Because I can sign Parsons and add talent with the cap space the lin and asik deals created. Can't do it with Stephenson.
Greg Monroe is the only real PF but he's not a stretch 4. I'd take Lance out of the players that are left on the market as UFA. Lance has some maturity issues still but the talent is there and that is what we MUST aquire is talent. Morey can work trade magic later to balance the roster if need be. Look at it this way. 1. Lance comes and performs his value will be high. (piece for Love, Dragic at the dead line or Durant in in future S&T) Those are better fits. 2. Provide much need wing defender. Paired with Bev & DH12 this will be lock down! And defense is what we need more than anything. I'd prefer it from the 4 but Bosh loved money and South Beach more than Texas and a real chance to win again. 3. It will lower Parsons and Harden's minutes. They are playing too many minutes. If Lance gets those guys down to 32 minutes a night they'll be more effective come crunch time. (See Spurs) 4. Beverley is great at giving this team edge but it's mostly defensive. Lance is a playmaker and a hell of a rebounder at 6'5". Lance will give us a 2 way player with an edge. He'll do good with Harden, Howard, and McHale as leaders. 5. The ONLY real down side is he is Harden's position offensively. But trust me you rather have Harden and another budding SG that can lock down 1-4 on defense with the game on the line than Greg Monroe at the 4.
