I like Lance as a player. He's a SG. His does he help us? Another $10+ million backu? Haven't we been down that road already? He's not ideally suited to play SF. Parsons is not ideally suited to play PF. The end. Not an option
He can be our more powerful version and better version of Ginobili. There is literally ZERO downside for this move and every bit of upside from it.
If the Spurs get Gasol .... that's a freaking wrap. Waste of top centet and top shooting guard on your roster.
He can run the pickn roll and guard 1/2/3's. He wasnt the reason for Pacers decline last season. He is just Vernon maxwell kinda crazy. Jordan vs Maxwell matchups were fun to watch back in the day.
I see people still dont understand the fact that waiting on a RFA like bledsoe will cause us to lose parsons. We need a PF, a real PF.
I like this idea. Sign Stephenson, then a backup center that can protect the rim, and then match Parsons. The upgrade at the four isn't available in free agency anymore. It will have to come from Jones improvement or a trade, which means we need to be talented and deep elsewhere. Stephenson, Harden, and Parsons can spilt up the minutes at the 2 and 3. Stephenson can take Lin's 6th man role and Johnson can play some backup point guard.
Why not Stephenson at the 3? Can be an offensive spark and a gritty defender. Pacers offered 8.8m because that's all they can afford. Let Parsons walk and offer Lance 9. He's got no other offers he'd take that.
Sure if we had bird rights or something, so could build a roster that made sense with adding Lance. Unfortunately we don't have the time or ability to do that ... AND Lance is not going to enjoy Ginobilis role.
Sign Lance Stephenson. I think both Stephenson and Harden can play the SF. Stephenson is the better than Parsons imo.
Would love Stephenson because I agree that this team needs a little bit of Mad Max / Ron Artest kind of intimidation factor. But like Bledsoe (who I also love), Stephenson is a RFA and Rockets need to sign someone NOW or lose Parsons for nothing.
