Im watching the possessions. Jokic is getting in Gobert's ass. What's the point of being a DPOY if you cant do anything about it? Ive seen slim defense Sengun do the same thing Gobert is doing except that was the plan to beat Denver.

    They had to bench Gobert.

so because he can't guard probably the greatest offensive player in history, who's having one of his best shooting games ever, he sucks? You don't think sengun would have given up 50 today if he was guarding him with no help? There are a total of zero players in basketball history who would have successfully guarded jokic today, do you just take away every dpoy award ever given? Just dumb

Gobert and Kat are too soft. Nuggets winning 4 straight. It’s over.

nobody’s worried about Gobert’s defense, and he gets clowned across the league

they keep giving him DPOY, but every playoffs he gets bodied and abused

if your defense can’t carry over to the postseason, u shouldn’t get the award…u are not the league’s best defender

Sengun gives up HUGE games to Jokic every time Denver plays Houston but that's the plan by Ime to win. Everyone stays home and lets Jokic eat. The difference is the Wolves are depending on DPOY Gobert to actually guard Jokic 1v1 and he can't do it.

Gobert is not even guarding Jokic anymore, it's KAT. that's inexcusable.

edit: and Sengun also gives it back to Jokic too. something Gobert cant do.

nobody can do it, it's impossible. When he's ON, he's untouchable. He would have torched deke, dream, anyone, doesn't mean those guys suck

hell no. Deke and Dream would have held Jokic to a respectable number.

I know Dream would have also given Jokic just as much on the other end too.

You can say whatever stupid crap you want, it won't make it true. They would have done no better and maybe worse, Rudy was amazing, those shots were impossible. Just watch the actual game, don't just look at the box score, you'll see

Shaq would’ve averaged 38 and 15 on 70% shooting against Gobert in the 95 finals

Deke couldn't guard Shaq in the finals. Some matchups are just bad.

I honestly thought the T-Wolves had a shot in the 2nd half but the Nuggets continued to choke Ant, the open jumpers by his teammates stopped falling and Jokic went nuclear. Someone tell Shaq it looks like they got the MVP correct after all.

Major props to Denver for deciding Ant would not beat them, knowing from game 4 his teammates would not keep their end of the bargain. More props to Jokic because he knew Murray's calf was bothering him so he decided before the game to take matters into his own hands. If it was also personal with Gobert, that was added fuel to his fire.

I'm not going to slam Rudy Gobert because nobody in the NBA could have slowed Jokic tonight. When he decides to play bully ball AND his jumper is going in, you are cooked.

Next game, I expect the T-Wolves to establish Ant early and to double up Jokic often (which is exactly what he wants them to do). Nuggets need to withstand the early surge as in game 4.

I've been saying all year, every time I watch the T-wolves: Conley is extremely important to that team! They literally fall apart without him.
That's a problem, because the dude is super old and always injured. You may think that their window is just now opening, but they will have a huge hole at PG if Conley breaks down for good, which is inevitable and soon.

The way to neutralize Jokic is not to put a DOY on him. It's to put a good offensive center to punish him at the other end.
