No. Absolutely not. Daryl Morey is going to see this as falling short of expectations, and so will probably fire McHale. But in terms of overall, larger picture, view. No, not a failure. The team really came together, had a stretch of extraordinary games this year. Showed that the Dwight signing was a complete success. That the Dwight - James duo have huge amount of potential.
Pretty sure before the season we were thinking WCF, and at the LEAST 2nd round. Reality is we were heavily favored against the Blazers and couldn't get it done despite being more talented. McHale needs to go..Period
absolutely it was, never thought would get bounced in the first round when we have the best big man in the game and star like Harden
of course. i didn't even have high expectations like some of the delusional posters here and they even performed below my expectations knocked out in the first round? THE FIRST ROUND? what a joke.
Yeah, but the postseason is the entire point. Who gives a crap if you win 9 more regular seasons games than a year ago if all that happens is you get bounced out of the first round again in 6 games?
Actually the regular season games against Portland were always close. Heavily favored my arse. Mildly favored at best. Portland had the same regular season Record 54-28
Depends. The Spurs had collapses like this too. If they learn, this is a growing pain. If they could never get back to where they were (injuries, attrition etc) then this is just wasted season. More than anything else, we need a right coach.
Of course this season is a failure. Every other series in the West is going 7 games and we flame out in 6 with HCA because of pathetic execution. Just awful and embarrassing. No better than last year.
YES. You have HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. You have a BETTER TEAM than last yr. You beat the Blazers 3X this season, and you end up doing no better than last yr. when you got kicked out in the first round. Absolute FAILURE OF A SEASON.
Most of us just want the team to make it to the 2nd round. To get the feeling how hard it is to get there. To get the experience. Then comeback the next year for the WCF.
It's a failure because of who we played. All year long we said we wanted Portland and it bit us back in the ass. The worst thing was that we lost this series mainly on mental errors. Wasn't expecting a title or even a conference finals appearance, but yeah, it was a failure
