It was 100% worth it. 1. It shows the hugeeeeeeeee gap between the Rockets and the championship caliber team like GSW even without Curry. 2. It completely invalidates Mauri's statements of "no one wants to face this Rockets in the playoffs," "we are capable of making noise and going far," "we have the versatility to throw different looks at teams," 3. It lets Murray and the front office know that there is plenty of work to be done to reach the GSW and Spurs of this world, right from the coach to the overall philosophy of how to play to having a system to making players accountable etc 4. Our system (emphasized by Mauri) of one guy beating the ball down and ISOing while clearing space for 3 point brickers is not conducive for playoff success. It is too easy for top teams to plan against this non sophisticated YMCA type gimmick offense. 5. Going by Mauri's history of picking between 10-20 (where the pick would have likely been), I'd rather watch the playoffs than wait for another bust like Dekker or White or TJ
not really. a team that really shouldnt be in the playoffs anyways didnt stand a chance. just bc curry went down didn't mean much. GS is just that much better and that has always been the case especially this year. one of the best teams in history vs a team that doesn't even have a winning record. No chance
The problem is not that they snuck into the playoffs. The problem is that they quit. No respect for this bunch this year.
Hindsight? The writing was on the wall well before the playoffs. This team played exactly the same way they did in the regular season.
the 12th pick in this draft wasn't going to make a difference. This team will depend on FA acquisition and trading away guys like capela because there is no other way. You can't start from the draft. You have to remodel this team. Or tank next year big time by letting Dwight go, cleaning the rooster out and moving Brewer to the starting line-up.
so with that said at the very least a lottery pick isn't worth a good trade asset? bc i definitely think it is.
Exactly. The argument of "12th pick won't make a difference" is completely invalid. 12th pick >> useless humiliation showcasing our systemic problems to all possible free-agent acquisitions. We learned nothing in these playoffs and we gained nothing. Nothing. Any basketball person knew the problems after the unwatchable season we had. 12th pick >>>> nothing
not sure how the original trade was constructed, but typically, if a pick is protected, it defaults to the next season anyway. We would have lost the pick eventually. Not sure why everyone wants to create a losing attitude over a [likely] #14 pick
you theoretically have no chance with or without Curry, evidence in the fact we got blown the **** out on our asses without Curry on the floor
It was worth it if this belt-whipping forces management to completely overhaul our coaching staff and roster over the offseason... therefore it's too early to say.
How silly. We could have used that pick to dump a bad contract. I guess maybe you're a big Brewer fan, but I am not.
Well.... You want to make trades. A #12 pick would be a fantastic addition to a team to take Corey Brewer off our hands. For instance. You can't really go to another team "hey what about Corey Brewer, and we'll throw in highlight videos of THREE 30 point beatdowns in the playoffs last year"
Of course it wasn't, all the people that wanted the team to get the 8 spot are just lazy to understand what the futures holds in that case.
ofc it was worth it. game 3's comical ending (by both teams) gave me good laughs. that alone was well worth it. and i am dead serious.
ah, thanks J.R.! Yeaaaa probably should have missed playoffs lol... can't say we didn't try. Utah just tried harder
Money and an "established" NBA All Star. Because a playoff team who was blown out in 3 of 4, and a 9pt loss added in is such a more lucrative destination?
If that pick was going to be used to try and grab Rubio, I am glad we lost it. Rubio would be a terrible fit here and he's one of the most overrated players in the league by fans on this board.
