Warriors Announcer Bob Fitzgerald’s controversial statement vs Harden

Fair enough! But the main point was that any NBA announcer saying stuff like that, are bad at their job, as they apparently do no prior research.

Rockets fans shouldn't call for a Warriors announcers to be fired. Why are Rockets fans listening to Warriors announcers in the first place?

I have league pass. you CAN CHOOSE which broadcast to listen to.

 

Once you got a reputation in the NBA, it's hard to shake it because the vast majority of the sports media are too lazy to do any real research. This is especially true with something as subtle as defense. There is no one easy to use quantifiable metric to measure individual defense. That was why Kobe continued to be elected to All Defensive teams long after he had stopped playing defense.

 

So if harden is a 0 on defense then what is Steven’s score?

 

I'm going out on a limb and assuming Golden State fans don't care if their announcers are accurate about any Rockets players.

If their announcers are terrible, like listening to Sean Elliott for the Spurs, switch the broadcast feed.

Most teams tend to go overboard on the homerism on the broadcast.

Of course the announcers aren't going to do research on other teams. Listen to anything Clyde Drexler says.

 

I would not be surprised at all this from him throwing up the 13 earlier in a game when he got called for a travel on a stepback and then the last game where he got pissed at Harden late in the game and yelling at the refs that something was a flop.

Back to back MVPs are super rare and puts you in the upper elite echelon of players. So many amazing players do not have 2 let alone back to back MVPs. Right now Nash is probably the worst of the bunch.

If Harden manages to win MVP (again which I highly doubt given the media bias against him) its going to really upset Curry. If the Rockets manage to upset the Warriors and potentially the Finals the levels of salt coming from the Bay will be astronomical.

(FWIW in the conspiracy theory aisle - IMO no way the NBA doesnt have the Warriors 3 peat this year with the new arena opening next season in SF. If a game is close or starting to get out of reach what the Scott Fosters, Tony Brothers of the world make themselves known)

 

That’s the issue. People point out a flaw and deny his talent altogether. Same logic in saying great leaders in history weren’t great because they were adulterers or why r Kelly wasn’t great because he likes them young and fresh. Point is folks just want to point out a perceived flaw or deficiency in order to discredit someone who’s done a lot of amazing things. Only issue is hardens perceived flaw isn’t really a flaw. Sure he’s not the best perimeter defender but neither are most of those elite guards including curry lol. Harden is among leaders in steals and is a great post defender. And btw if you’ve watched any of the games you’d know he is a much better perimeter defender these days than say 2 years plus ago.

 

I would understand if he has a MVP vote... but he doesn't. And neither does Sean Elliot.

What’s funny is that while the commentators were gushing over the Giannis and bashing Harden, Golden State was getting smoked by Dallas. Maybe their focus should be on the game. Then again, maybe they were trying to distract people from the fact that golden state is playing inconsistent basketball heading into the playoff stretch

As I said previously, even warrior fans hate fitzgerald... and have so for many years. Jim Barnett, on the other hand, is a competent PbP (similar style and knowledge as Bull) and Tim Roye (ex Kings) is OK.
