<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/urjO9NYFLT0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I was just reading an article about Detroit, and realized that it's mayored by an NBA HOF'r/50 greatest. He's been mayor of detroit since 2009. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bing Along with Kevin Johnson, that makes two former NBA all-stars as active mayors of major cities. Cool story.
Bing really wants to turn Detroit around, and has great ideas for the city. I believe he's taking a $1 annual salary for the job too! Quite the statesman.
Big article about Bing and Detroit in today's Washington Post. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/07/AR2011020705338.html
There was an article in SI about a year ago about Bing and the city of Detroit. It was a depressing article, just like pretty much everything written about Detroit right now.
It's hard to get excited about an NBA players (present or former) who's basketball video online is him making layups to Kenny G.
