To me , this is something that doesnt even matter in the short term. Even in the extreme scenario of this virus was designed in a lab and released on purpose does that change how we try to mitigate the effects ? Sure , its a long term question ... but wet market , lab, bat sex , blood orgy .. that doesnt change how to try to handle a pandemic right now.

So you're saying China isn't a communist state? And you seriously believe that USSR, rebranded as capitalist Russia just did away with the communist ideology? They're in it for the long game. Wake up.

I don't get the vehement denial that this MIGHT have originated in a lab that happens to be 3 blocks from the wet market. I don't know. None of you know. But it's clear that the board seems split down partisan lines on if it's even a possibility. Put me down in the 30% that says, YES. It's possible and most likely probable.

The Chinese just got a gift in seeing how America would react if a bug was released. As predicted, the country splits along partisan lines and curls up in a fetal position.

They're both textbook Fascists. Nobody in either places gives two s**ts about "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs". They held onto the authoritarianism and jettisoned the egalitarianism in favor of hierarchical corporate statism.

    I like the Russians better

We can make the Russians the bad guys in every movie and they wouldn't try to censor it

The are Communist like we are a Democracy. If you look up the definition of Communist, there’s very little that reflects the purpose of that governing philosophy. They are mostly an autocratic dictatorship. Russia is an autocratic state too but without the influence and wealth of China.

We have some Democratic infrastructure with the states having independent electoral voting power but with so much power consolidated under the executive branch, we are teetering with autocracy as well. That’s why Dems are/were so worked up about Russia attacking the election. It’s the last bit of Democracy we have left to change power if it goes off the rails.

Also Republicans should be worried about that too. There’s just enough Democracy left for a Democrat to still win and finish the job of completely consolidating power with the executive. Trump having success in consolidating power should concern Trump voters too but they are too drunk on perceived power at the moment to want to take any power away from their god king.

They adapted capitalism as a means. They still wage a war against the US. We are their enemy. And it’s a win for them when one of us blows them off as being harmless and pays them no attention. Winning the hearts and minds, to steal a phrase the US used in the Vietnam war. Don’t go to sleep on either of them. We do business with them if it suits our interests and visa versa. But they both have a strategy.

Dude, do you read before you post? Even @dachuda86 didn’t say the liberal/progressive leaning folks in this country were being “infiltrated” by “Chinese Communists,” and even they aren’t really communists any longer. They’re more a bizarre conglomeration of dictatorial Fascism and controlled “free enterprise.”

Why do you conspiracy theory nuts have to include an ignorance of history along with your wild opinions?

Anyone who even mentioned the lab was shouted down as a conspiracy nut by Vox, the NYTimes, Washington Post, CNN (the left has moved on from "fake news" and now calls anything inconvenient a "conspiracy theory").

Now we know it likely came from the lab where they had bats. But don't you dare ask or look into whether the release was intentional. That makes you a wild conspiracy theorist, to wonder if the upstanding Chinese Communist Party is capable of such a thing.

And North Korea is a great bastion of freedom and liberty since they call themselves the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. They're a democracy like us!

Symbols and names clearly define things more clearly than how they actually operate, right? If they switch that hammer and sickle to an eagle you'll be on team China?

It is unlikely that it came from a lab. What the hell are you talking about?

This is from a science publication that doesn't have political motivation. Without clear and transparent data it isn't possible to know where it came from.

    https://www.livescience.com/coronavirus-wuhan-lab-complicated-origins.html

Is it possible that happened? Sure. Has it been shown that it did happen? Not at all. What we don't need are a bunch of gossip mongers running around spouting off stuff they don't know anything about. If you'd like to be the US Magazine of Coronavirus theories, go right ahead.

I'm going to ask you to pause and reflect for a minute. Think about what level of understanding almost every single post you make on these boards says about you.

And there's a huge difference between an accidental release (which is plausible) and and intentional one (which makes zero sense).

You're still hanging with Steve Bannon, huh?

What a great guy to attach your wagon to.

People are stupid, they know some folks lie all the time - TRUMP - for example yet continue to swallow whatever he is spewing.
