I was also thinking that he should have ordered his dunks differently, but as it turns out he would have looked silly doing his Sean Combs dunk last since George already jumped Hibbert. In that sense, I understand why he brought that one out first.

In general I wish the players would just stick to performing spectacular dunks and not worry about lob passes or gimmicks. Some will say "everything has been done already", but that's not true. Watch a few dunk videos on YouTube and you'll see that other dunkers around the world are doing all kinds of things never seen at All Star weekend.

awesome to see chase get some shine in the dunk contest. but to be honest, this years dunk contest was pretty boring otherwise. cool to see him dunk over puff daddy too.

Yeah, he would have looked worse, like he did on the windmill after Williams did it...I mentioned earlier he should have done more on the diddy dunk, it actually looked easy. Maybe a quick windmill or just doing it a bit further, or maybe two handed, so he doesn't push off with the off hand... could have overshadowed the hibbert dunk.

It really baffles me that they don't have more ideas. I can't imagine they've never seen some of those clips out there. It seems like something any player, who likes to dunk, would look at. Fans are part of the problem though. I think the real creative dunkers, who wouldn't use props, got scared off because fan reaction towards the props was very positive. Blame DH and Gerald Green..

I don't think Budinger is capable of doing much more on that lob dunk.

Didn't it take him 3 tries to convert on a fairly standard windmill? It looked nice in the end, but that's a dunk most great dunkers will finish on their first try.

I'd have to take another look, but i think he was trying to take off farther on the windmill. Plus, I think the issue is gripping the ball as you're coming out of the windmill, and not actually having enough hops to pull it off.

Also a windmill-only dunk needs to have complete extension on the windmill and hang time to look good. However, if he's combining two dunks like diddy's and a windmill, i think he'd get away with a half-ass windmill. It wouldn't be pointed out until much later, and the immediate hype would drive voting higher.

Some took it easy (or made it look real easy) while the others tried just too hard (a lot of stickers in them backboard)

I keep hearing how lame the slam dunk contest is now but was it better back when Jordan and Dominique were going at each other?

I don't see the imagination in those dunks that we see today but Jordan taking off at the foul line is probably the most impresive of all time to me.

The difference is timing. When they did these dunks, they were all new and creative compared to what was going on during those times.

They were the the beginning of a lot of the flashy dunks. The truth is the NBA dunker in the contest are not creative anymore and a lot has been done over the years. No one is pushing the envelope.

They should watch youtube before coming into these contests. Or better yet bring some of the ANd1 dunks and have them destroy the NBA and embarrass them or make them step up their game.
