If that video didn't choke you up and give you chills, you are not a real Rockets fan. You almost take for granted how good Hakeem was until you watch videos like this. There will never be another player with his power, speed, height, grace, and back to the basket shooting ability.

the video is awesome in so many ways.

the quality of the footage..guess it's from a dvd

the music. thank you for not ruining it with a explicit rap song or the overused LOTR music.

the transitions. simple fade to black. not the hideous collage of powerpoint-like transitions. and also not replaying a clip 100 times from 100 angles.

In recognition of CF longevity, I'm reposting one of my contributions from a while back.

When I was going by laughinj I posted this little poem (thank you Edgar Allen Poe) about our pending deal with Shandon Anderson. Read it as you would read the Raven.

(As I read this again, I was happy that a few CF memebers that were noted in the poem are still around)

Shandon Anderson, the Raven.

Once upon a midnight dreary while I pondered weak and weary
Over many a quaint and curious deals of forgotten Rocket lore
While I nodded nearly dozing but mostly bored there came a posting
As of some one boldly suggesting posting on Clutch’s Board
"'Tis be Popeye" I muttered "posting on Clutch’s Board
Just a Member, and nothing more"

Ah distinctly I remember it was in this bleak September
And each poster post his thoughts upon Clutch’s Board
Eagerly we wished the trade - vainly we hoped it was made
From Clutch’s forum full of nuts – nutty for the lost Lhutz
For the cool and cooky coconutz whom the angels name Lhutz
Nameless here for evermore

Even with sad uncertainty wrestling with each trade possibility
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic optimism never felt before
So that now to still the beating of my heart I stood repeating
"'Tis be Popeye posting on Clutch’s Board
Maybe theCabbage posting on Clutch’s Board
Just a Member and nothing more"

Presently my soul grew stronger - hesitating then no longer
"Almu?" said I "or Outlaw truly your forgiveness I implore
But the fact is I was snoozing and so boldly you came posting
And so strongly you came posting - posting on Clutch’s Board
That I scarce was sure I read you” - here I replied to Clutch’s Board
”I’m just a Jr.Member and nothing more”

Deep into my ‘puter I was peering - long I sat there wondering, fearing
Doubting, dreaming dreams no DREAMer ever dared to dream before
But my silence was unbroken and Jeff and Jenna gave no token,
And the only word there written was the word "Lhutz!"
This I whispered and the double post wrote back the word "Lhutz!"-
Just a Member and nothing more

As I witness newbies’ learnings, all my soul within me burning
Soon I spied another posting somewhat bolder than before
"Surely" said I "surely I’ve seen something on Clutch’s Board
Let me see, then, what thereat is and this mystery explore
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore
”Just a Member and nothing more"

As I sat my body shuttered - when with many a flirt and flutter
In there posted by the Shandon of our dreams of yore
Not the least obeisance made he - but a minute stopped and stayed he
And by BrainKagy, posted on Clutch’s Board
Posted on my ‘puter screen - just posted on Clutch’s Board
Posted and nothing more

Then this ebony F.A. beguiling my sad fancy into smiling
By the snickering decorum of the countenance he wore
"Though your worth be still in question, thou" I said "art sure no Jordon
A loose cannon in you Shandon wandering from a Utah shore
Tell me what you’re going to do on that Roxy floor!"
Wrote the Shandon "I Am Your."

Much I marveled this ungainly F.A. to hear discourse so plainly
Though his answer strongly suggesting - did little to quiet Clutch’s Board
For we cannot help agreeing seeing is the only believing
Ever yet was blest with seeing a F.A.’s words upon Clutch’s Board
A loose cannon on my ‘puter screen – upon Clutch’s Board
With such a line as “I Am Yours”

But the Shandon, sitting lonely on Clutch’s forum written only
Those three words as if his soul in those three words he did outpour
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he stuttered
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other deals have gone before
On the morrow you’ll leave us as Damon has done before"
Then Shandon wrote "I Am Yours"

Startled at the stillness broken by my reply so aptly written
"Doubtless" said I "what is written is your only stock and store
Caught from some unhappy mormon master whom unmerciful disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till the dollar signs did bore
Till the dirges of your hope that dollar signs do implore
Of 'Never- I Am Yours'."

But the Shandon still beguiling all my fancy into smiling
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of Shandon and Clutch’s Board
"Wretch" I cried "thy Sloan hath lent thee- by your agent he hath sent thee
Respite- respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lhutz!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lhutz!"
Wrote the Shandon, "I Am Yours."

"Stop It!" wrote I "just sing the line – stop it and make you mind
By that forum that looms in front- by that Clutch we both adore
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if and when you plan on signing
It shall clasp a sainted coconutz whom the angels name Lhutz
Clasp a cool and cooky coconutz whom the angels name Lhutz"
Wrote the Shandon "I Am Yours."

"By those words our season’s starting, by trade or exemption" I shrieked upstarting
"Get thee on board and we’ll row to Rocket’s shore
Leave thy whining as a token, as a lesson for the Pippen!
Leave my loneliness unbroken!- quit your posting on this board!
Take thy dollars from thy heart, and sign the line I do implore!"
Wrote the Shandon, "I Am Yours."

And the Shandon still deciding, still we’re waiting for his signing
On my simple ‘puter screen; upon Clutch’s Board
And his words have all the meaning of a child that is screaming
And the lamplight o'er me streaming throws my shadow on the floor
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted when I hear “I Am Yours!”

This clip is FANTASTIC! Thanks for putting this together, spreading the word about it on my FB and Twitter. God I miss Hakeem! I always remember seeing "the will to win" in Hakeem's face everytime the camera panned on him. TMAC and for that matter, all NBA players would do good to study this man, his composure on the court, and the fire that always burned in him.

I hope one day soon, another player of Hakeem's stature will rise again and come through Houston.

Can you believe its been 14-15 years since the glory days? Crazy.
