The next Grant Hill? :[ Unfortunately this could be one of those situations where he has always played with ankle support therefore having very vulnerable ankles. In comparison to the whole.. running barefoot theory...
There was a blog post that analyzed Curry's movement style and it concluded that he was prone to ankle sprains because of it. Something about putting to much weight on the outside of his foot when he runs and makes cuts. Looks like the warriors drafted a lemon.
Eventually (and probably already), he's going to lose any type of mobility in those ankles. Every time he sprains it, the ligaments shorten, and becomes more stiff. Sucks to watch, because he's really just spraining them on routine movements. For some reason, it also looks like he's slipping around out there.....are his shoes the culprits?
Ain't about the Nikes, it's not letting a severe sprain heal completely that leaves you with glass ankles. I Feel bad for the guy, looks like me out there - hardly takes any extension to re-tear.
yeah looks like it, bad mechanics....his ankle is roling out instead of remaining aligned....it's like punching something with your wrist bent instead of straight. You're going to roll it and screw up your wrist. They need to get him to a qualified PT and get that in order. His shoes don't help either. Looks like he may be wearing a size too big. Plus, the tape around his ankles always looks too thick, may be overdoing it and that adds to the ankle/leg dysfunction.
It was always his right ankle, too. That tells me that that ankle just needs some serious physical therapy to strengthen it. Every time he sprains it, it's probably just getting weaker... A solid ankle brace wouldn't hurt, too. Most of those sprains looked totally innocent, too. Like he almost never landed on anyone's foot or anything. He just twisted it all on his own, sometimes just by landing or by running normally. Makes you wonder how much of it is mental. ... Man, and I thought I sprained my ankle a lot. Incidentally, most of my sprains happen when I come down from a jumper and land on someone's foot, which seems to be how a good chunk of ankle sprains happen in general. NONE of his happened that way.
