right funny thing is...for some goofy reason...my xvid preferences were lost when it upgraded to the latest build a few weeks back and I tried to remember exactly how I had it set...but just knew I was forgetting something...I hadnt had to mess with the encoding parameters since we first set it up. Quarterpixel was already set, I forgot GMC. was Max consecutive GOPs at 2 or 1 before? motion search precision 6 VHQ mode 1 The 86 Finals are coming out ok I suppose...considering the kinda funky source quality. so I havent messed with the xvid settings....but would love to optomize it a little if possible.
R2K i should be in the chat tonight if the game is blacked out in LA on FSN SW. we can talk more about the settings then. I think they are should be set to 2. i havent done a xvid encode in about 2 months now, but its like riding a bike
R2K: Just wanted to let you know that I have a DivX/XviD compatible DVD player. I'll be sure to test it out with tonights game when I get it downloaded and I'll report back with the results. Thanks again R2K, you are a life-saver... I'll be moving overseas in late November, so your encodes will be treasured greatly
DivX will probably fit on a CD, and then, there is no encoding, so it's like a 3-4 minute job. Whenever I burned the games on CD and play them on my "Divx" DVD player, I always get not so good results. Maybe the audio and video are off, or I get these random pixels flashing across my screen.
Yes, I just burn the downloaded file straight to a CD-RW that I use over and over again to watch poker shows, tv shows, etc. Then pop it into my DVD player and it plays just fine... MLittle: What DVD player do you have? I had trouble with XviD files and AC3 files using Philips DVP642... So I recently upgraded to Philips PET825 and it has played almost everything that I've thrown at it. It's a portable DVD player, so I just export it to the TV when I'm home.
Well it didn't work on my Philips PET825.... I'm running the file through Dr. Divx now and I'll try it again... I'm pretty sure it will work after i do that. Edit: Yes, it worked fine once i ran it through Dr. DivX and converted it to a .divx file.
I wonder if maybe as one of the requirements of being allowed to have Divx compatible hardware is that you make it unable to play xvid (which is their competition, but free) It woudnt surprise me...you know the Divx people hate the xvid guys.
Anyone notice how few threes were taken back in the day? I've only wathced most of the first half so far, but I can't recall a single three pointer beign taken! Agan, thank you R2K. Thanks to you, I'm stockpiling the entire season on DVD. I have the entire season of T-Mac's first year on DVD. DVDs are so cheap nowadays, why not. Last season, I was gung-ho about it until the injury bug hit, but this season will be a different story! Still seeding game 2... share ratio almost at 2
thats the fun part of seeing the older games...it reminds one that its not just about the dunks and three pointers...teams kicked butt for years without a whole stable of 3 pt specialists on the squads. these 86 ones are super fine for no other reason than to see games with so many future HOFers in them. These guys show you the importance of fundamental basketball.
Actually from my experience with the Philips PET825, it plays XviD files just fine... The only one I had trouble with (before the Rox/Griz highlights file) was a file with AC3 audio. But since then I have gotten a file with AC3 audio to work, so I haven't quite determined it's limitations at this point. Maybe it has something to do with the GMC warp points that were mentioned earlier... Not sure. I'll try downloading the full game file today and see what happens. Good thing that Dr. DivX works no matter what.
hmm how recent were the xvid files? I got the newer gordian knot pack during the offseason, adn they made some major changes over the older version I used last year..possibly something there? Have you ever tried some of my older stuff from last year to see if they work? I think Ill clip a short piece and do some tests with it..if you are willing...I can get each test run to you and you can check to see if it makes a difference
I'd definitely be willing to do some testing, no problem. Thank you for being willing to do the testing work on your end. =) Here's what I've tried so far: Mavs v Rox Playoffs 2005 did not work. The xvid files that do work are very recent, all sorts of tv shows that are capped by various people and encoded with xvid. Example:
