He is way younger, taller, longer, more agile than Andersen. More years to develop into a much better player.
I remember reading reports that it was actually his post game that the staff, and particularly McHale, fell in love with and from looking at this video I can see why... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/G5Tblw5WggQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
No. I am not hyping myself on this guy until I see him do something for the Rockets. Too many let downs with potential great players in the past
His quickness on those moves is outstanding for a 7 footer...I mean that is incredible and to be left handed to boot. Oh man.....he is something. DD
reminds me of bosh, rockets wanted him there we have it , i hope we dont trade him, like we did with gay, and batum looks like the kid has game
I think he really has star potential, but will have to work his tail off (like Pau for instance did) to fulfill it. He can be very good in the low post, in the high post, and even since the 3 point line. Should become a good rebounder as well, and a versatile defender (has better feet than Bargnani). Tons of potential, his brain as always will dictate what kind of player he comes to be.
I don't remember any rockets draft picks with these skills that didn't pan out. The 2nd rounder overseas picks always looked mediocre, but we thought they might be more. This guy looks good, we'll see how is defense is though.
his athleticism looks good, but his skills look ok. his post moves still have hitches in them, they're not flowing very smoothly. little mechanical in his execution
I've seen that video before, and yeah, he makes you drool. Tons of potential. He has real NBA size, he's quick, seems to shoot the ball well. You can easily imagine Hakeem working with the guy. Can he play defense?
If I'm going to go the white, Euro comparison, he's kind of giving me a Toni Kukoc vibe. Maybe more of a PF version, but the dude can shoot and seems to at least be able to handle the rock. I always thought Kukoc in his prime was an excellent, excellent player, so that'd be great.
Beat me to it, exactly what I was thinking, especially with his above average passing ability for a big that size. I think its a great (if not) obvious comparison, except I see more post potential from Motie as compared to the point-forward type of skills that Kukoc had. If he learns to finish strong, which even the mild-mannered Yao developed, he could turn into a scoring machine.
Kukoc was more of a SF type, did not really have a post game, this guy seems like a PF/C type to me....with range, like a quicker Okur? Heck, his quickness.....I can't get over it, he is unbelievably quick.....and this is so important in the game of basketball. And if you are big and quick, well you get special players. DD
That's a huge leap.. D-Mo is leaking with potential but Yao had easily one of the most dominant sets of offensive set for any big man, a perfect combination of height and finesse made him near unguardable in his prime. He was unblockable with his fadeaway and hookshots. Not to mention, Yao's impact on defense was huge. I like D-Mo, but I seriously doubt he could be as good as Yao in his prime.
Wouldn't it be something if he was though? I can not get over his quickness, look at his upper body shoulder turn, how quick he can redirect, and move his feet? That is how Hakeem was able to get by people, he was just quicker than they were.... To me, that looks like elite level quickness for a big man.....and that alone will be a huge advantage. DD
