My next two level ups I will multi-class Wyll as a Rogue and then go back Warlock. I'm level six currently.

Finished Dave the Diver a little while back, though might go back to it for some side stuff I didn't bother doing. Really fun game. Didn't like some of the random gameplay modes they threw in for the hell of it (Yes I want escort and stealth missions in my fishing game), but some of that also worked, and I still enjoyed it quite a bit overall.

I still had Octopath on my mind, so I went back to the Octopath gacha game on my phone. I played it when it launched, dropped it, then thought I lost my save data (I thought I kept it on my old phone and never registered with Square-Enix). Anyway, I never wanted to replay that chunk of the game again, but decided to try again because of my love of OT2. Turns out my save data did exist, so I picked up from where I left off. And this is a great game, even if it is gacha. I assume some of the main staff also worked on this game. I know the composer did...and the music here is awesome too. That guy is becoming one of my favorites in the industry.

Finished Robocop Rogue City. The plot was so much better than Robocop 3. My only complaint is the voice acting is really bad and there's some noticable graphics issues.

Now playing Metal Gear 2 (the old 1990 version). I'd played it before but never finished it. Holds up well for an 8 bit game.

What a crazy coincidence. I was watching a video on YouTube 10 minutes ago that had MG2 in it.

A game on the switch called, "Gris". It popped up on deal for $5, so I gave it a whirl. Best $5 spent on the switch.

It got a 10/10 from a bunch of game reviews. Its kinda like limbo but imo better- a puzzle game with artistically simple graphics, but so beautiful. I like a relaxing puzzle game and the music that comes with it is so serene. Highly recommend.

All this time, I'm trying hard to romance Shart and she's playing hard to get. All of a sudden, I find myself in an intimate scene with my guardian angel. Curious, I pick the more crazy choices to see where it goes and it ends up in a sex scene lol. To make matters even more ridiculous, my wife decides to walk in at the climax. She's asking me if this is what I do for fun and all I can do is laugh at the craziness in this game.

Anyone try Old World? It's a 4x Grand Strategy from the lead designer of Civ 4 (one of my all-time favorites). I know it's a couple of years old but I just heard about it. Supposed to be phenomenal.

I have had that on my "wishlist" on Steam forever. I was going to buy it when it came out, but decided not to after some lukewarm reviews and people saying it was kind of like Civ + Crusader Kings but not enough "good" from either one, or it couldn't match either one. I think the reviews have gotten better lately, but i don't know if that's due to patches/fixes or what. I could've sworn when it came out, it was "ok but nothing great or new" as far as reviews. I don't think I'll buy it anytime soon, though, since my backlog of games I have to work through is somewhat... large. I may still get it eventually, though. I'd look at its subreddit or read somewhat current reviews of it to figure out if it's something you'd like, though.

I've been into Cyber Punk 2077, now that I have a system built that can handle it beautifully.

I've spent a few hours playing Cyberpunk and it's super impressive. I expected amazing graphics, but the story and immersion is incredible as well, find myself roaming around aimlessly at times checking out random stuff. That never happened on the Witcher 3 to me, great game so far.

One of the titles in the genre that even with new game mechanics rewards legacy skills. Old strats still applicable.

I think one of my favorite mods is one that allows you to ride a "real" train through the city. That's it, but I couldn't help but ride the train and just watch the scenery.

Think I mentioned my thoughts on the game earlier in the thread...somewhere. Generally speaking, I very much loved it. It had a horrible launch, but I think they did a pretty good job turning it around. I have nits I could pick (mostly story related), but overall good experience. I'm playing other stuff right now, but I want to return to the game via Phantom Liberty at some point.

'We don't have shareholders, but we also don't think about them,' Larian Studios uses its stage time at the DICE Awards to speak out against a brutal industry climate
Baldur's Gate 3 walked away from the DICE Awards with another handful of trophies: Outstanding Achievement in Story, RPG of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction, and Game of the Year—adding to an already massive list of well-deserved accolades.

Its developers, however, devoted much of their speech time to the state of the games industry—which, if you've been paying any sort of attention, has been dire for devs. 2023 was a horrible year for games industry layoffs—and if patterns continue, 2024 could be even worse, with over 16,000 developers losing their jobs since January of last year.

"We're very lucky," says Michael Douse, the director of publishing for the studio. "We've had a lot of stage time—others are not so lucky. This is a really human industry, and we're really bad sometimes at showing developers what they're worth … it's kinda the elephant in the room, especially surrounded by all this opulence.

"Many, many people were let go at the start of this year. I want you to know that you are all talented, and that you matter, and that you are the future of this industry. Don't let that flame be extinguished by our collective mistakes … we will persevere as an industry."

Larian Studios' head of production David Walgrave also took to the microphone to share a few words. "We ask you to pay one price only for the game, and that's it—you can own it for the rest of your life. We don't have shareholders, but we also don't think about them. There's an expression in Dutch—'honesty lasts longest', or something."

That reads to me like a dig at Embracer Group's recent comments. In a gaudy bit of saying the quiet part out loud, Embracer remarked that its "overruling principle is to always maximize shareholder value in any given situation" in a financial report. This was in the wake of laying off 1,400 employees over six months in 2023. A failure to read the room, even if it's patently true.

"We don't make decisions where we think 'this could make us the most money'," Walgrave continues. "In the long run, building a community, building a playerbase, building games that are actually fun is going to make you the most money, that's it."

Larian Studios does technically have a single shareholder in Tencent—which owns around 30% of the company. However, an important piece of context is that Tencent appears to own what's called a "preference" share, meaning that Tencent doesn't have voting rights when it comes to Larian's decision making. The rest of the company belongs to CEO and Founder Swen Vincke and his wife.

I'm noting this more for clarifications' sake, rather than to disagree with anything Walgrave said—when we think of the influence shareholders typically have on large gaming companies and publishers, Larian Studios is under no obligation to kiss the ring.

I did end up rewatching FF7 Remake and then just binged FF7 Rebirth videos online. I was too kind here, and I pretty much have no faith for the SE creatives at this point. (Edit: Oh yeah, throw in FF16 into the pile too, which sadly had a pretty awesome start)

Anyway I'm playing the same gacha games I've been playing. Probably should pick up a real game soon. Will probably go to the backlog and play Nier Automata or something like that.

I am playing Sea of Stars. It is obvious that it took inspiration from Crono Trigger.

Currently in the pile for after that: Nier Automata, FF7 Crisis Core, Harvestella,

Finally feels like I'm close to completing BG3. I am basically cleaning up quests in the the city and trying to decide which boss to take out first. My plan is to finish the other quests first, then choose the boss after that.

Been collecting alot of XBOX 360 games only playable on an actual 360 console.

Quite a few original XBOX games can also be played if your 360 has a Microsoft branded expanded hard drive (250/320/500GB)

    It's been fun.

Yeah, I have gotten into physical media collection, I have around $15k in games right now....over 1000 titles.....

Store most of them on price charting to see what their value is.....

I am taking a new job as CCO at another company and plan to launch a new game where we build it WITH audience participation something I have wanted to do for years.....

I hate publishers, and the people that run them, they have NO ****ING CLUE about what makes a good game, it is all about fleecing their audience for as much $$$ as they can get.....

Have seen so many genres come and go....and come back.....because publishers thought they were dead and wouldn't make another one.

Space games, RTS games, Turn Based RPGs, 6Dof, all declared dead and making comebacks....
