Geez, these lists make me realize how many great games I forget about when I try to make my own list. There's just too many to list. :(

I might have missed it, but I always had fond memories of E.V.O.: Search for Eden:
    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/nk_LTAbcvgc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I don't know if I necessary want direct remakes of these types of games, but I really did like how fresh and original some of the games from these generations were. I would love a new game that borrowed some of the game mechanics from EVO for example. Even a new game in the style of Hyperblade would probably get me more hyped than yet another generic shooter (now with 1886 tech and/or mechs). Kickstarter has helped in some ways (new Tex Murphy game, new high budget space sims like Star Citizen, Planescape+Baldur's Gate style games, Wasteland sequel, etc.), but still so many other types of games that could be made.

    Also, confession time:

    I've never played OoT.

(I plan on fixing that in the not-to-distant future)

The fact that our resident video game lover hasn't played Ocarina of Time is just mind boggling.

Two modern recommendations for those who like retro style simple 2d games- bit trip is a collection of them on most consoles I think, like a modern day pitfall is one, and pong/breakout meets night driver etc. Great music on them too.

Then online, I'm super addicted to curvefever2. It's like the tron motorcycles, but you are not restricted to right angles. Curving.

    Lumbergh!

Damn, it'd be badass to have all those games in that video.

Man, that is mind blowing. You are like the video game overlord.

Whoever this "FallenPhoenix" bird character is must be a serious gamer. Some excellent decisions.

Who else's parents threw aways their console boxes? My mom threw away my NES, Super NES, Genesis, Playstation, Playstation 2, Nintendo 64, and Dreamcast boxes. Would be nice to still have them and reminisce every time I look at them if I had the chance.

If it used cartridges not disks or digital format, its a retro console.

Passage of time seems to be giving N64 more fond appreciation. Maybe cuz it now blends into the crowd of older consoles with its limitations being seen as "charming". And the graphics are right in between older and newer consoles, its not the boxy 8-bit and not the sharper looks of consoles after so its a distinctly "classic" look. In some hobby/comic/collectible stores I've gone in, for some reason I've seen a few N64's hooked into TVs, would figure there'd be NES, SNES, or Segas

    DOOD. Hyperblade.

I need to re-install that. Good times. Come to think of it, Blitzball in FFX seems a bit like Hyperblade underwater, no?

Speaking of retro quasi-sports games, did you ever try:

I've always mentioned it in other game threads as an all-time favorite. If you haven't tried it, seriously just grab a rom of it, or buy it off Wiiware, and play it for 15 minutes. I always found it quite diverting. I even like the corny, overdone music.

There need to be more original sports games out there.

I'll just put down the most memorable games I played:

    NES
    Zelda
Super Dodge Ball - Hit a guy with a ball so hard he flew across the world
River City Ransom - dragon kick
Mega Man 2 - The laser level gets me every time
    Mega Man 3 - cake
Super Mario 2 - revolutionary, also everyone who is anyone picks the Princess
Super Mario 3 - so good
Punch Out - I swear, you can sucker punch bald bull when he charges
Double Dragon 2 - knee to the head and then flip them into the pit
Rampage - rumor - get to level 50 and the wolf shows up like in the arcade

    Genesis
    Sonic 2 - Tails!
Altered Beast - In retrospect, not all that great
Streets of Rage - Seems stupid that chick would fight on roller skates

    SNES
FF2 - Introduced me to what an RPG was and how cool they are. Also the moon, wtf?
    FF3 - Kefka was a dick
Chrono Trigger - Ill never forget Frogs theme music as long as I live
Super Mario Cart - a timeless classic!
    Mario RPG - super fun!
Zelda: Link to the Past - Ahead of its time
Super Mario World - Yoshi noise is all I can hear in my head
Super Punch Out - good times, but I think we all secretly missed Mike Tyson

    N64
WCW Revenge - My friends and I would do 40 man battle royales all night long
Conkers Bad Fur Day - Surprisingly made me fall in love with shooters. The D-day scenario was hilarious
Goldeneye - Perhaps the greatest FPS of all time?
Mario (name?) - A game in 3D?!?! This is crazy.

    PS
Castlevania: SOTN - Possibly my favorite game of all time
Dynasty Warriors - First game I was ever wowed by - saw on a 60 inch first time
Metal Gear Solid - He read my memory card?!
Twisted Metal Series - Spectre Missles > you
Rogue Trip (I think this is what it was called - very similar to Twisted Metal) - I get to be the alien space ship
Tecmo's Deception (Very fun game and unique) - Timmy - "likes spicy foods"
    FF7 - Aeris noooooooooooooooooo
FF Tactics - I can't even fathom how many hours I put into this game. Also what the **** storyline. How many characters are in this?

And a big fat FU to two games that were stupidly hard when I was a kid and could never beat:
TMNT - emerge from the sewers after disarming dynamite around seaweed and run over by Rocksteady and Bebop - EVERY DAMN TIME
Ghostbusters - How do you climb the damn tower?!?
