Agreed. I haven't seen a video game that does a good job of taking advantage of being in 3D. I'm not sure 3D really adds much, but maybe someone will come out with a video game and show me I'm wrong.
Where have you been looking? lol 2D games are alive and well if you look in the right places. There's LOTS of new 2D games out there, usually on the PSN/XBLA/Wii shop.
I think he was talking about 3D as in graphics, not the gimmick. But yeah the depth 3D on the 3DS/glasses don't really add too much but it's fine for some games like Star Fox 3D or Mario 3D Land, and I thought it was really cool for Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D.
Wolfenstein 3D Doom Quake I Apogee Software games like Duke Nukem II, Major Stryker, Monster Bash, etc. Tony La Russa Baseball 2 Commander Keen Series King's Quest Kyrandia Seventh Guest Many more, this is just off the top of my head I grew up in the 90s on PC games, didn't own a console until N64 and like others are saying I dunno if you can consider N64 retro.
Megaman 9 and 10, Castlevania ReBirth, Ducktales Remastered, Bit Trip Saga games, Limbo, Bionic Commando rebirth I think it was called, honestly too many to name. Lots of DS games like Contra 4 and Scribblenauts are 2D games. Not to mention console games like Donkey Kong Country Returns and New Super Mario Bros. games. Well a vast majority of the retro game community consider it as well as the PS1 retro, as well as myself.
Nice. I disagree, but it's a semantics issue isn't it? It doesn't really matter, besides I don't know anything about this "retro game community." Are you referring to a specific site or...?
Is the n64 retro ? Its not the first Nintendo system. It's like the third . Gaming didn't start when you started playing dude. Mega man for NES. Thanks retro .
The big ones, Chrono Trigger Sonic 1&2 Final Fantasy 6-9 NBA Jam Street Fighter 2 (still play HD remix this very day) Some lesser known games Toejam and Earl Sunset Riders Lost Vikings Kid Chameleon Shining Force
Mario RPG. I think I've beaten that game at least 10 times, yet it seems to get better each go around.
What I would like to see/feel in this new systems is a new experience, like having tv warped surrounded so that you feel your in the game. That's the next step. I'm not buying games no more
Well video games are a hobby of mine just like basketball is an interest to all of us, and as hunting, comic books, cars or coin collecting and what have you are interests of other people, and by community I mean in general websites geared towards video gamers and the whole retro gaming community on Youtube etc. just like there are for other hobbies.
Obviously it's not the first Nintendo system, everybody knows that. It's like saying 1984 is Van Halen's 6th album, not their first. It still doesn't keep it from being 30 years old, and the Nintendo 64 is almost 20 years old. But I suppose it's all opinion and I can tell most of you guys don't really game as a hobby, just casual.
