Ellen Page sweet ass is in this, anyone picked this game up? Might be overlooked because of GTA V.
This game doesn't do well with reviewers. A lot of reviewers don't like "games" like this, and just end up giving it bad scores. Heavy Rain was similar. You get a big variance in reviews with games like this (some love it, some hate it, pretty much no one thinks it is just OK). That said, some of the complaints from reviewers who seemed to like this kind of game (i.e., they liked Heavy Rain) did worry me. I've played just a bit of it, but not enough to form a strong opinion. Seems like a pretty Heavy Rain at this point (with much better acting). I'm not sure I like the jumping around in time, but maybe it will eventually work for me.
Beyond is more like an interactive movie. Very little gameplay, and what little there is...it isn't very exciting or deep. You can play the game with a smartphone as your controller to give you an idea of how it works. Some gamers don't enjoy that kind of experience, so they end up not liking games like Beyond, Heavy Rain, etc. It is basically the opposite of GTA.
Well, **** I loved Heavy Rain and the special edition tin case is still available at Gamestop since nobody bought it yet, lol..
If you liked Heavy Rain, it is probably an OK bet that you might enjoy the game. If you hated Heavy Rain, then you might want to avoid the game. No need to even look at reviews. edit: I might play through it by the end of this weekend. So...maybe you can wait for my review or something. (I really liked Heavy Rain, although I understand the complaints).
I would say that while both games are very cinematic, Beyond will be very different from Last of Us. If you would be OK paying $60 to watch someone play Last of Us...then maybe you'd like Beyond.
Graphics and acting are top-notch. Story is interesting but kind of all over the place. Gameplay is meh. I enjoyed it. Definitely worth a rent, wouldn't recommend buying it though. It takes about 10 hours to beat.
So it's a 60 dollar choose your own adventure? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choose_your_own_adventure
Controls like Heavy Rain to me. A little different in some ways. Hard to say if better or worse. I think if you didn't like Heavy Rain in that aspect, Beyond won't do much for you. But if Beyond is your kind of game, I don't think controls are much of a problem.
This reviewer utterly shreds it. http://www.penny-arcade.com/report/...of-a-game-thats-not-fun-and-a-story-thats-not Sounds like it has the worst aspects of Heavy Rain, but none of the good.
