This is awesome. Might be my favorite game from that era. It was huge. They hyped it up like a heavyweight boxing match and I'm not sure we've seen anything like it since.

It played out perfect. Yao was on a roll, blocked Shaq a couple times and then Shaq proceeded to dominate. Francis had one of his best games ever and it had the perfect ending with Francis to Yao for the game clinching dunk. Beautiful.

I remember Kenny Smith saying it felt like a college atmosphere in there. Would you agree?

    We were on the verge
We instead went for the QUICK FIX and that's where we loss

We were solid 1,2 and 5 - Good at the 3 and decent at the 4
After the trade we never found a replacement at the 1

This Rockets team would beat our current Rockets team. Competition was much tougher back then.

eff ya! still a ball hog though...i felt like it took yao some time to catch up to the speed in the nba. especiaaly on that rox team. stevie was just moving too quick.

since we're all in memory mode, one thing stood out to me. yao calls a timeout when we got possession after a time game miss. guess who he's smarter than?

The defense back then sucked. Did you see how easy Kobe back to back threes?

But that team had heart and hustle. The only players that could keep up with that team would be Bev and Harden.

Francis did some work against arguably the most dominant LAL in the 1st rd of the playoffs whereas Harden shrunk up against a decent but hardly dominant Portland team. Just sayin'

We were #5 or #6 in the West prior to Rudy T. taking a leaving of absence for his cancer treatments. That team was coming together...Steve played with alot of heart...wish Harden played with the same passion

Steve missed 55 games that season with a foot injury and reoccurring migraines. If healthy, we probably would have missed out on Yao Ming

Steve was good, but he dribbled out the clock like no one else ever. Also notice how Yao had about ten points in this game. I always hated how Yao was third option behind the Francis/Mobley brothers.

A bit disingenuous don't you think? That season Steve barley played and had those severe migraines.

I'm going to say something that is probably going to go against consensus on this message boars but Steve had more natural talent than Harden. Steve also had the IQ of a door knob and unfortunately could never fully utilize that talent.
