Are you saying those two could match up to the Celtics and Warriors 12th man?

Melton can't be a PG / decision maker in the NBA, but once we put Merkel Brown as theoretical PG, Melton was the player with the most winning impact on the court. I think he's an underrated finisher and even slasher as a second guard. Not to mention he's superb defensively and rebounding as a guard. A steal at the 2nd round.

Props for Onuaku, who was surprisingly good at the 2nd half, key on the comeback.
Hunter is an overall good player, but not great at anything. His shot looks too streaky to give him an NBA niche just for itself. He's a good scorer, but not excellent, he's not a bad defender, but not very good one.... He would be an elite player in Europe, but he's a borderline NBA player, who will have his last chance this training camp. Not very optimistic with him.

Absolutely unimpressed with Vince Edwards so far. Not looking good... In other words, looking like a normal 2nd round rookie. Not like Melton.

Melton is definitely and undersized 2 like Marcus smart. Hunter is a shooter obviously but I don’t know if defensively he can keep it. Melton looked completely comfortable switching everything. Hartenstein can play in the league

Obviously there's a lot to like about Hartenstein …. But he has to learn to finish stronger. That's been my only real complaint from the get go because he gets a LOT of looks around the basket but doesn't finish them strong (throw it down big man).

Agreed. I think it's a combo of no rim instincts and bad footwork.

melton looked much better playing off the ball as the 2 guard today, with brown bringing the ball up. he was able to settle down and let the game come to him. even made a couple nice 3's and in the final couple minutes showed poise making FT's and a shot in the lane

edwards still looks lost but did make a confident 3

duval looked out of sync especially on his passes. he did have a nice setup for nanu. also airballed a 3. on defense he gets a lot of deflections which is good

qi looked quite good and i wish we would have seen more of him in the 2nd half

refs were pissing our players off all game. hunter, brown, and hartenstein were complaining about getting hacked since the 1st Q

    where is gary clark??

    lastly, F the worriers

For the most part , its a simple lack of explosive athletic ability. He's a more traditional big man physically but has a modern skill set making him at least viable in todays game. He just lacks the fast twitch fibers which is typical of a guy his size. Really explosive big's are few and far between.

I don't think you have to be explosive per se. Just have good instincts around the basket. Look at Kevin love, zach randolph, Brook Lopez, Robin Lopez, Marc gasol and on and on. None of them are "explosive", they just have better instincts and know what to do when they get the ball.

RJ Hunter is the only reliable shooter on this team, but I don't think he can make it to the next level.
He shoots without decipline, hardly control the pace, seldom pass or create for teammates, ocasionally weak on defense and whining about refs all the time. Just doesn't seem to be a tough and positive guy which our team needs for a bench player.

I think it’s more this than anything, his scouting reports talk a lot about him being a fluid athlete that is a good “leaper”. There’s a lot of great jumpers that weren’t good finishers in NBA history
