I think you're thinking of Adywan. He did amazing work, but he left some special edition stuff too so purists might not be happy with that. There's this dude on youtube: Ivan Ortega who is editing The Last Jedi. Subtle edits here and there and large edits including voice over work and added cgi.. Seems pretty cool. Here's a trailer to his edit: He's obviously very limited in what he can do so the large edits will be very fan made quality, but in general they're cool ideas. Making Luke look like Luke and training Rey. No marry poppins Leia and a reason how she survives the explosion into space without the poppins scene. Luke with the green lightsaber. Making the first order seem a little more menacing instead of like a joke. Subtle music/atmosphere changes to make you more emotionally engaged. Akbar lives/sacrifice instead of purple hair.
