So I've owned one vacuum cleaner for the past 5 years. In that time I've never changed the bag once. Oh, and I'm OCD, so I used to vacuum everyday for 5 years. Now that I've got a new house, I don't want to use that p.o.s. vacuum cleaner and possibly ruin my new carpet. So I'm in the market for a new BAGLESS vacuum cleaner. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm an electronics/gadget freak, but I don't know crap about vacuum cleaners!
Yeah, dont get one that "SUCKS" or do you want to?? Yeah, I'm lame... No really, sorry I cant help.. I dont even know what kind I have I know it's black and has a light on the front..
Dyson ~ they're like 500, but the internet capabilities and Mp3 player more than make up for the extra cost.
The Dyson DC07 gets five stars from 30 reviewers at epinions.com. You can get it for $350 at vendio.com (note: I've never bought from them and am not necessarily recommending them). Make sure it's not a refurb when you buy.
We had a friend who bought a Dyson and said it was a piece of s_ _ _! That surprised me. I thought the commercials were pretty convincing.
I've got a Dyson and it is fine. We bought it because it picks up pet hair really well. If you don't need a specialised feature, I hear that Panasonic makes a really good vacuum cleaner without a bag for much less money than a Dyson will run you.
Dyson's are some of the best vacuums you can buy, but no way in hell I'm spending that much money on a vacuum cleaner. Look at the reviews they get on Amazon.com. Over 400 reviews on one of their models and a 5-star rating. lol. Of course I always wonder how many of those reviews are from people that have to justify spending half-a-grand on a vaccum. I got a Bissell Lift-off... dude, it's candy apple red and .... shiny.
You've vacuumed every day and you haven't changes the bag in 5 years? I'd say that you've got a bad vacuum cleaner... I change the main (we have 4+)vacuum cleaner's bag about every other month. Of course it's not bagless, but we have a Hoover Windtunnel. The thing I really like is a light that changes from red to green when the carpet is clean. At first I thought this was just a gimmic, but it stays red for a while in the high traffic areas while the low traffic areas almost never switch over to red.
Because I only keep up to date with male electronics, not those made for females! I looked at the Dyson's last night, and like DoD said, I don't wanna spend that much on a vacuum cleaner. I used to have a Bissel, and I think I'll go with that again today at Best Buy. Thanks for the input all!
I've got a Hoover bagless that is really good. I have only had to change the main hippa(sp?) filter twice in three years, and one of the times was because my wife used it to clean up a water spill.
drapg- If you spend anything less that $250 for a vacuum, you're not getting a good one. Yea, I know, sounds crazy right? But I used to buy whatever had a good brand name, dependable, because hey, they all work the same right? Nope. My friend brought hers over one day after I vacuumed, and it filled up an entire canister full of dust and dirt. Amazing. I went out and bought one for $350, and you wouldn't believe the stuff it picks up. Oh, and the one I bought was a Hoover Windtunnel Mach 5.6. It's bagless, and has a Hepa air filter attached to it. I've had it for about 5 years now.
Yeah, I just got a Hoover Savvy something-or-other. Consumer Reports ranked it #1. Retail they cost 3-400, but I looked around and got mine for like $220. It can go either bag or bagless. I've only used it bagless, though, haven't tried out the bag. Gets the job done.
Thanks for the input. This web site kicks ass. I went with DoD's suggestion and got the candy red Bissell with the portable unit inside the vacuum cleaner. Just picked it up at lunch at Best Buy. Can't wait to go home and start vacuuming!
Good buy! I've owed a the Dyson pet for a few years now and it works wonders. The suction hasn't decreased since I first got it either.
