Proof is in the Pudding. If he joins the Spurs in 2008 and actually produces, there will be a lot of people here with egg on their faces. If not, then guess y'all were right and he's a crybaby and stays in Greece. There, I said it.

    May this thread go on....and on......and on........and on......forever....and ever...and ever...........

Spanoulis: Team Greece Ready For More
    14.08.2007

Greece may have snatched gold at the EuroBasket two years ago, and captured a silver medal last summer at the FIBA World Championship.

But never, it appears, will they be cocky.

"We are very self confident, but not arrogant," star guard Vasilis Spanoulis said. "Arrogance can drive you down the wrong path."

The Greeks could be excused if they did show a hint of arrogance, though.

They have as much quality in players one through 12 as any national team in Europe.

Panathinaikos' Dimitris Diamantidis is widely regarded as the best defensive player on the continent, while playmaker Theo Papaloukas is an excellent floor general who always makes the big pass, shot, or comes up with an important rebound.

    Dimitrios Diamantidis (Greece)
In Diamantidis Greece has one of the best defensive players in the game

This team did not win the FIBA World Championship last year, but even with Spain hosting this year's event, the Greeks will believe they control their own destiny.

"The will of every player - to have the best possible preparation - is a given," Spanoulis says. "We want to do our job right and to walk, all together, the road to the EuroBasket united.

"We know there are big expectations - first and mostly from ourselves, our coaches and of course the Greek fans, after the results we brought for the last three years.

"So the goals are already set and we have to accomplish them."

This Greek team could be the best yet because of the experience gained the past few years.

    "Of course!" Spanoulis said.

"It's nothing like the first year we got together. There is the experience of the course we have already made together and we have total control during the practices, adding new elements in our game.

"The quality of this team is very high, but we know we can get better. Every player has his own part and role in the team, working to the same direction.

We have a common goal and that is the best possible preparation, physically and mentally."
Most important for any team is the issue of fitness.

So far, so good in that area. None of the players have been struck with anything serious.

"First of all, we want to be healthy, to go to Spain without absentees, to be strong," Spanoulis said.

"We set the bar really high in Belgrade. Every team will want to beat the champions and that is normal. But we have our will against theirs. In sports, you count your strength according your opponents'."

And what is the most important ingredient to success for Greece?

    It's a four letter word.

"We want to prove that we really deserve to be at the top," Spanoulis said.

"Eurobasket 2005 and the 2006 World Championship proved that the teams who get to the medals are the ones that are the most bonded, and not the ones that have two or even three excellent players.

"I believe that the word "team" will make the difference for Greece once more."

Hmm, this doesn't seem to be the same person we are talking about here........

So again where did this opinion of Spanoulis come from and who was behind putting it in the fans' minds?

It came from the fact that he sucks...

Nobody predicted he would disappear. He played decently in the Euroleague before, it stands to reason that he'd probably play well when he gets back. But that doesn't change the fact that he sucked donkey balls in the NBA and thus proved to be unworthy of being an NBA player.

There you are lying again to try to prove a weak point. Yeah...NOBODY thought he would do well in Europe. After all, he has had a career of doing well there so why expect that now, right?

PS - Trajan Langdon kicks ass...perhaps more than VSpan! Sign that dude, he can't fail.

V-Span struggled, but he did play well in some games, enough to make one think that he had potential.

Gonna have to table that potential until he comes back to the NBA.....nothing he does in the Euroleague is going to change anyone's mind, he has to do it in the NBA.....on the world's biggest stage.

Even my arch nemisis JVG, said V-Span was GREAT some times, particularly in the Washington game, so I still believe he will develop.....but alas.....not with the Rockets.

The proof is in the hotdog.

And who predicted that? Exactly NOBODY. Not a single person in this entire thread said Spanclueless would do poorly in Greece. Quit making sh*t up.

This is NOT the Greek League or the Euroleague, it is the EUROBASKET the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP.

The VERY best players from Europe, not just from Greece or just from Euroleague teams but the all stars of every nation.

If he's playing this well in the EuroBasket so far it's hard to believe he can't play in the NBA.

And for all those who now claim they never said that, again person after person just claimed he can't make it in the NBA.

Do people here even know the difference between EuroBasket, Greek League and Euroleague?

Do they even know the difference between NCAA I, NBDL, NBA?

Some times one has to really wonder.

Yet he was a superstar for Pana in Eurobarnleague, probably their best post player.

Just like Spanoulis - great in Greece, not so great in the US!

Blah blah blah... even players who play well in the Olympics/WCB, even ones who play well against the USA are not necessarily legit NBA talent.

The only thing that a player has NBA ability is that this player can hold down a spot in the NBA.

I know that Mike Batiste doesn't have a prayer of making the US Senior Mens Nat'l Team or even an NBA starting line-up, yet he is the best post player in the Greek Barn League.

LOL, what does that tell you about Grecian Barnyard Ball? It tells me quite a bit.

Ryan Bowen is not an NBA player any more. Once he forgot how to shoot, shooting under 30% his last season here, the next season he was out of the NBA. When he was making his jumper at a decent percentage, he was usable as a 10 mpg energy guy. When Ryan Bowen could shoot at a decent percentage, he had NBA ability because his hustle and energy were great, but once the shot left him, he was out.

Well, there is definitely something ridiculous going on here.

You had staked your claim to legend in this thread. Why would you risk that legacy with a comeback?

BBall 8th-grade Science Class Photocopy Assistant, do you really want to tarnish your achievements by donning a Washington Wizards jersey and lumbering around jacking up posts, dreaming of your glory days? All the thousands of spectators shake their heads.

"He's just not as absurd as he was during the first 12 pages of this thread. I remember that one time he posted a link to the Greek four-column barn those clowns play in, and it was just sublime. Time stopped. We stopped breathing... It was that funny. But to watch him now, it's just painful."

Please turn away from the temptation -- you could go out on top of your game!

    PS -- It's only a flesh wound!

I'm in the middle of doing some research comparing posts from Kill Bill Pana and BBall Scientist. Finding some VERY interesting results and consistencies. Currently compiling the data and will post later on.
