I thought for sure they would draft a replacement for Boozer. What a waste of a pick that wasn't even theirs. Jesus Christ, charlie brown could have drafted a better player then these morons.
Sorry for the gross over-generalization, but black players aren't enthralled with living in Salt Lake City or (to a lesser extent) Toronto, so those teams often find themselves signing Euros or, in this case, Hayward. Bill Simmons had a good line on BSPN when he joked about how upset Indiana must have been ("nooooooooooooooooo!") when Utah stole their white boy from them, one spot early.
Actually, I think GH is a replacement for Ashton, when he leaves via free agency. There's your chance, Bird, you can sign Kutcher.
He will fit their system and is smart/works hard. His weaknesses will be disguised to some extent, but he is a College player. His game won't translate all that well to the pros. O'Conner is a good GM but I'm surprised with this pick. I certainly won't be losing sleep over this.
Right, but you would have thought they would take Cole Aldrich. Aldrich fills more of a need than Hayward. With Okur (still?) mending from injury, and Boozer's unsure status, you'd think they'd go for a big man...
Can you believe that FoxSports thought the his picks (especially George) was one of the worst of the draft (they listed him in the "loser" category)? http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/lists/...rs-and-losers-062410#sport=NBA&photo=11367342 I thought George was a good pick, so was Stephenson. http://www.nbadraft.net/players/paul-george George may not be a superstar budding, but I can certainly see him fit into Trevor Ariza-role for a team. The guy is 6,9 small forward, he has the potential to be an above average player on offense and pretty good defensive player. I would've drafted him, if he were available and the Rockets had two picks in draft. Which is what Bird did . . . draft the best available player. Though I think he would've been in a better situation, if he were on a contender team that needed a small forward, like the Spurs; the Heat (they will be after FA); or even the Suns (who need perimeter dynamo for defense, but he is also fit for that system). They will teach him to flop, but he can't be Harpring. That guy was a football player who played dirty.
