It happens lol. Im giving Harden a pass...it's his b day. If you watched the game he was just trying to cross people over and shoot step backs.
His IQ is low for a "superstar" ...even when he figures that out he will not match Orlando/1st year Houston's T-Mac level.
The way Hollinger made PER, the break even point for shooting% is really low. Something like 32%. Meaning a player can shoot 40% even inside the 3pt line and have his PER increase pretty nicely with volume. Hollinger severely overestimated the value of shot creation, and believes that a player can shoot at a pretty low efficiency yet is still valuable to his team. I think if he were to re-make PER today, that threshold would be much higher, and consequently efficiency would be more important in its calculations.
Harden is still dealing with the fact that True Blood is over. He'll shake it off before the tournament.
Per is the most useless stat in basketball. It rewards chuckers and people with lots of steals. http://waynewinston.com/wordpress/?p=1326
McGrady was a horrendously inefficient chucker, which was only compounded by how incompetent JVG was (let's force Yao into the low block and wear him down whilst simultaneously taking away driving lanes, the thing he was actually good at from McGrady)
