    USA vs. Argentina

Anybody watching this game? The US looks pathetic and the Argentinians look like All-Stars.

The US team better get their act together or they're about to lose... sad. They're down 18 with 5:10 left in the 1st half. The Argentinians have a nice passing game...

I was about to ask the same question...

Geez, its not even as if they are just not making their shots; these guys look like they are getting dominated. I guess we'll have to see if they wake up second half.

    Um, how about some defense?

Getting outplayed in every facet of the game - Luis Scola looks like a steal, whoever has him.

The US team has no coherent offense, it looks like a well-coordinated dry heave, meanwhile the Argentinians are getting high percentage shots on almost every possession.

The US needs to step up their game big time, or they will be responsible for the first defeat since the use of pros began.

BTW, anyone taking bets on who Karl blames in the press for this loss? I'm betting he'll figure a way to blame Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell.

Absolutely loving it...I'm going to Argentina later this month for a weekend and hope they win.

    Couple of observations.....

Paul Pierce is a great player, but I hate him for the way he plays the game- always trying to draw the foul. It's sad seeing a player contort their body in such a contrived manner.

Pepe Sanchez more than deserved the 2 year deal he just got from the Pistons.

The US' nonexistent inside game (am I the only one who notices Jermaine O'neal has the face of a 6 month old?) is the reason they're susceptible to games like this....but the difference between Argentina and Germany/China is that they can hold a lead.

    Jay Williams still sucks.

The whole team is sucking. Hum, if Steve really feels shafted from being off this team.

This should be a wake up call to all the NBA stars that wouldn't play in this tournament. Garnett, Duncan, Kobe, McGrady, Payton, Iverson, I could go on and on. We knew the USA would not go undefeated into eternity. We've got a half left to be played, but I'm pessimistic.

The US has been destroying people in the second half because they wore them down. We'll see if the same happens to Argentina, but it won't help that the US isn't hitting shots.

They only had a 4 or 6 point lead on New Zealand at halftime, but ended up winning by 48. They're going to need to really step it up here if they want to win. This has been a pathetic display to this point.

It doesn't matter that we're not sending anything close to the best the NBA has to offer; this game shouldn't be this lopsided. Close, maybe, but lopsided? No way. Argentina's offense is a thing of beauty to watch though. Picks, back door passing, etc. Nice ball movement.

The U.S. is making them pick up the tempo they better hope it works. Thanks Shaq, Garnett, Kobe, Iverson, McGrady you lazy asses. And a special thank you for George Karl for sitting there like a zombie instead of coaching. No wonder Milwaukee sucked last year.

Wrong forum ;) (The college folder is now also intl. hoops, though this kinda fits into both. I just felt like saying 'wrong folder' to alert everyone to the change.)

In any case - we NEED to lose. Why? To get the NBA stars of today to work harder on and off the court to prove that they are the best in the world. Losing knocks the chip off of their shoulder, forcing them to see that fact.

Though, at this rate, the Spurs may end up as the Buenos Aires Spurs, considering their collection of talent in Ginobili and Scola.

Case in point- Pierce foul at the end of the 3rd.

    Pathetic.

The US team is playing like dogs, it's embarrassing.

I can't stand international rules though. The refs are horrible, the 3 point line is way too short, and 40 minute games are weak. And that rule about the shot clock going off before the ball hits the rim is ridiculous.

This shi& is crazy. We look lost. Why the hell is Reggie Miller in there. Karl is a moron. He needs to go to a defensive line up.
