Chris Paul eager to resume building chemistry with James Harden, Rockets' teammates

[Just a excerpt on CP return. Full article on the tweet]

As Paul and D’Antoni see it, the nine-time All-Star will likely return at some point in the next two weeks. He has made key progress in the past week, having gone from the boxing and water-treadmill routine that helps maintain his wind to the kinds of on-court activities that typically precede a return.

“Um, he's probably right,” Paul said about D’Antoni’s recent proclamation that he was approximately two weeks away.

Said D’Antoni: “Now he's getting back on the floor, where he's now shooting foul shots, shooting a little bit. He's been working his butt off. He's been boxing all the time, and doing stuff with water, running in the water...and treading water and all that. He's going to be in shape, and he's trying to take his anxiety and frustration out on working out. But it's normal stuff...It's (only) unique because he just got here, and we have all this going on.”

"But even with the Rockets’ fast start without Paul, and with Harden averaging 26.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists entering Sunday"

smh can't this national publication afford to hire someone proofread?

I’m looking forward to seeing chris paul perform in a rockets uniform.

He’s always been one of my favorite players to watch in the nba.

This drawn out season will help the veterans more than others. What you’re seeing now is teams treating the first fifteen games like preseason; in years prior it would have been the first ten, but now we’ve got fifteen games played before thanksgiving. Chris will be fine; the most encouraging thing to see is Capela and Gordon playing like all stars. It’s not like their roles will change any with the return of Chris Paul.

pretty sure RocketsTruth has proven we gave up WAY too much for a player that was already coming here

We might get swept by the grizzlies if we do that....

It's going to be such a huge benefit having Paul watch this team for 15-20 games before playing full speed.

Getting swept by the Grizzlies is a small price to pay for not allowing them to hurt any more of our guys

This is also going to leave CP fresher for the playoffs.

I think it's silly the Rockets wouldn't let them hang out or talk while CP3 was injured - now James and Chris have to start the bonding process all over again.

    Bone-on-Bone is a communicable disease.

    The prudence was warranted.

    Honestly.

I think it's kind of a good thing. Chris Paul is so smart. He's like a coach, legitimately, out there on the court.

He's been eagerly watching the team. Watching where each player likes to operate. Where each player likes to get the ball. Where each player runs in transition.

He's able to "study" our team and its players and I think it will help integrate him. Sure nothing beats on court chemistry, but I think win Paul it's not so much a negative as it would be for a player who relies on "feel".

I'm sure he and mda have been focusing and discussing those 2nd units and how to run them once he's back. Likely every game they discuss strategy and watch mda would want from Chris in this situation or that.

I'm stoked. Take your time. Come back 100% and let's take the league by storm.

Their proofreaders are standing next to the also-fired commentators at some streetcorner holding a sign:

While it definitely helps for CP studying the team on the court side, but we also need his teammates to get used to his present on the floor.

Gotta love MDmA taking it in stride. He's like, 'this is no big deal, there's no actual issue with the team so move along'.
