Two separate articles on this issue today, one in the CS Monitor and the other on Salon. The article in CS Monitor details the politicians and officials looking to get Mujahedin e-Khalq (MEK), a group thats been designated as a terrorist org by the state department, off of the terrorist list. MEK has gathered a full spectrum of support, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former US four-star generals, intelligence chiefs, governors, and political heavyweights all lobbying on their behalf. I cant help but think this is one of those stories that wont get much coverage right now, but will almost certainly materialize in unexpected, and potentially devastating ways in the next decade or so should the US continue its support of MEK. I'm pasting both articles below, the first from Salon by Murtaza Hussain and the second from CS Monitor by Scott Peterson.
As if the "war on terror" wasn't making a mockery of itself already... Support our foreign policy goals: Freedom Fighters! Resist our foreign policy goals: Terrorist!
