Sure, was just pointing out the "worst-case" scenario.

Which concludes that the Rockets either (1) have the #1 seed locked up, or (2) will have "serious" problems going into the playoffs, way beyond just being the #2 seed - which we all would have absolutely taken going into the season.

Barring injuries, the #1 seed in the West is pretty much locked up. The Rockets ensured this by beating the Pelicans and T'Wolves on the current road trip. The only thing still in doubt is the best record overall, but I seriously doubt the Raptors will win out.

I'm going to start updating the original post in this thread, since anyone new to the thread sees it first.

Current as of the games on 3/19

    Western Conference home court

The Rockets have 12 games left and hold the tiebreaker and a 3.5 game lead, while the Warriors have 11 games left. We are 9-1 in our last 10 games, while the Dubs are 6-4.

    Our remaining schedule...

    8 home, 4 away (1 home and 1 travel back-to-back):

    @ Blazers
    Pistons
    Pelicans \ back-to-back
    Hawks / back-to-back
    Bulls
    Suns
    @ Spurs
    Wizards
    Blazers
    Thunder
    @ Lakers \ back-to-back
    @ Kings / back-to-back

If the Rox go ____, the Dubs have to go ____ to regain the #1 seed:

    Rox 12 - 0 = Dubs impossible
    Rox 11 - 1 = Dubs impossible
    Rox 10 - 2 = Dubs impossible
    Rox 9 - 3 = Dubs impossible
    Rox 8 - 4 = Dubs impossible
    Rox 7 - 5 = Dubs 11 - 0
    Rox 6 - 6 = Dubs 10 - 1

    Keep in mind:
    1) that KD and Thompson will miss the next 3-4 games.
    2) In the last two months, we are 26-2.

    The Warriors remaining schedule...

6 home, 5 away (2 travel back-to-backs, both with game 2 vs Suns):

    Hawks
    Jazz
    Pacers
    Bucks
    @ Kings \ back-to-back
    Suns / back-to-back
    @ Thunder
    @ Pacers
    Pelicans \ back-to-back
    @ Suns / back-to-back
    @ Jazz

    Finals home court

The Rockets have 12 games left and a 4 game lead, while the Raptors have 12 games left and hold the tiebreaker. Here's the scenario...

If the Rox go ____, the Raptors have to go ____ to regain the #1 seed:

    Rox 12 - 0 = Raptors impossible
    Rox 11 - 1 = Raptors impossible
    Rox 10 - 2 = Raptors impossible
    Rox 9 - 3 = Raptors impossible
    Rox 8 - 4 = Raptors 12 - 0
    Rox 7 - 5 = Raptors 11 - 1
    Rox 6 - 6 = Raptors 12 - 2

    The Raptors remaining schedule...

    6 home, 6 away (3 travel back-to-backs):

    @ Magic \ back-to-back
    @ Cavs / back-to-back
    Nets
    Clippers
    Nuggets
    @ Celtics \ back-to-back
    @ Cavs / back-to-back
    Celtics
    Pacers
    Magic \ back-to-back
    @ Pistons / back-to-back
    @ Heat

We are already pretty much guaranteed home court advantage for the first AND second rounds. It's practically impossible for anyone to pass us in the WC, and we'd have a higher seed than all the other teams in the playoffs.

So basically, if we go 9-3 from here out, we are guaranteed home court advantage in every round of the playoffs.

It's a must-win of all the must wins tonight. You win here, it gets easy for 4-5 games. Let the Warriors slip and we can maybe even rest our own guys the last week or two of season. Not the time to let up.

Yeah, plus if we beat the Blazers on their home court for the second time this season, we'll already be in their heads if we meet during the playoffs.

The schedule over the next 10 days is charmin soft. 5 game home stand, with 4 of our opponents being trash.

Frankly, the rest of the schedule overall is pretty damn smooth. 8 of our next 9 are at home, and we don't have to leave Texas until the last 2 games of the year... 20 days from now.

Rest and recharge, because when you look back we just came of a brutal stretch, and only lost 1 f**king game.

    i'm conflicted.

    1) win the remaining games (68 wins) - mental edge on warriors / stay sharp for the playoffs

    2) win until HCA in finals is locked up then rest players - got what we needed / vets recover from nagging injuries

    3) start resting guys now then go back to full rotations for the last week of the season - still prob get HCA in finals, rest, and avoid rust for playoffs.
