What a waste. And he is only 26 years old?

Damn I thought he was 28-29 at the least. He had a pretty good bulk to bang around against opposing guards too. A damn waste indeed.

Wonder what caused his total crazy breakdown. Steroids? Bad childhood/upbringing?

My guess is drug use triggered the appearance of an undiagnosed mental condition, and he just went bonkers.

18 years is too much punishment imo. Yes what he did was crazy and wrong. But its not like he killed or rape anybody.

I was summoned to jury duty and the Judge asked us potential jurors if we could follow the law about conviction punishment.

She said that in Texas if you are convicted to a second felony you can recieve from 5-99 years in prison.

I said "hell no" and was not selected. ;)

No JVG testifying Kirk yelled at him at the Utah game after a dunk??? That would have been end of the debate.

JVG on the stand would have been funny.

Hope he gets better and his jail time is reduced to like only 5 years and 10 years probation. Seems like he had insanity problems.

I was a potential juror for a drunk driving case and its weird. The people that were talking most and knew what they were talking about, wasn't picked but the ones that didn't say a thing and gave the same answers as everybody else got picked. I thought it was weird.

I liked him when he was here. But he broke his hand and it's been all downhill for him since then. A real shame. :(

so you think crimes like rape and murder only deserve 18 years? wow

i somewhat agree that 18 may be too much..at least 10 years ..maybe because hes an ex-nba player is why they are being harsh. who knows.

People are getting ahead of themselves with the 18 years. 18 years is the maximum he can be sentenced to for the crime he was convicted of. It isn't any indication of what the prosecution is asking for or what the court will ultimately settle on. For all we know, he might get probation and time served (though I admit that's unlikely).
