Brian Gaine: "I know we don't have a first or second round pick... We feel like we have a good core in place. We certainly have needs and we'll address those needs in free agency or the draft."

Gaine says returning to #Texans where he already had working relationships and familiarity has been a great advantage in his new role.

Gaine: "Any area of improving the roster, we will do that."

Gaine: We're going to try and improve the roster from spot 1 all the way to 90.

Gaine says improving team speed is essential for Texans to improve.

Brian Gaine said a priority is making the Texans a faster roster.

Gaine: "Continuity is critically important to any offensive line... The communication part is critically important to the success of the group."

Gaine on Bill O'Brien: "We are always communicating."

Gaine: "Certainly our focus is always going to win the AFC South. It's a very competitive division... Certainly formidable foes."

Gaine says he is "fairly optimistic" that D'Onta Foreman will be ready for Week 1.

Gaine on Cushing: "Very difficult decision. The best compliment of Brian Cushing is the following: In my 20 years of scouting, I proudly have not enjoyed evaluating a player more than watching Brian Cushing play football."

Texans GM Brian Gaine said team is evaluating possibility of doing a contract extension for Jadeveon Clowney prior to regular season, mentioned Benardrick McKinney as another core player the team wants on long-term deal

Brian Gaine said he has an excellent rapport and communication with Texans coach Bill O'Brien

Brian Gaine said that he's optimistic about injury rehab progress for J.J. Watt, Deshaun Watson, D'Onta Foreman. Expects all back for season, could foresee Watson participating in organized team activities on some basis.

Depends what you're asking of him. He was good last year and the Saints defense was hurting without him. He'd be a big upgrade to our defense

He's really good at covering the TE, but misses a bunch of tackles and is somewhat injury prone.

    Pass

It's going to happen. I'm fine with it as long as we bring in someone else also. Joseph still has enough left to be considered a good #2 CB IMO.

If we are going to sign CB in the 30's
I would much rather trade for Aqib Talib (Joseph is not any younger) and Talib has been a pro bowl for like 4-5 years straight

Talib would be great. I think Denver will end up having to release him. He'll be playing with a chip on his shoulder. Joseph along with any of Butler, Trumaine, Talib, Mo Claiborne would be nice. Colvin & Patrick Robinson are slot options.

Wade Smith is as smart a football mind as you’ll find locally imo,

Great read as he tackles fixing our offensive line woes.

Bennett would be as "welcomed" here as Colin Kaepernick. ;)

Yeah no chance the Texans would take on Bennett.

We don't have any interest in bad boy athletes nor do we have any interest in thoughtful, outspoken black athletes.

Can't have distracting black activists spreading cancer in the lockerroom.
