Worrying about the potential cap 5 or 6 years down the line should have NOTHING to do with who you pick in the draft.

It absolutely should. You always have to have a plan in place for now and the future. Thinking this way could even benefit clowney as he could be seen as a viable replacement for watt if the cap situation doesn't allow it or best case scenario you can plan for that burden years in advance.

No, it absolutely should not. We don't know that any of those players will even be alive 5 or 6 years from now. We don't know if there will be an NFL at all that far down the line. You don't draft a player as the #1 pick based on what might happen more than half a decade in the future, you draft them because they are the best pick in the class and your team needs them now.

But we don't know if the players will be alive by the start of the season! We don't know if the NFL won't shut down before then! Maybe we should just not draft anyone!

That is true, but that's just a gamble they have to take, they don't have to gamble on hypothetical scenarios 5 or 6 years down the line, they have plenty of time to make moves before then.

Crafting all possible hypothetical situations is part of the process. I pray they are not as short sided as you are because it is an EXTREMELY likely scenario they will have to structure cap to accommodate them both soon.

You realize you are arguing my point with the bolded? You plan from the start, not just kick the can and say well we will deal with that when it comes to us. All I am offering is what I hope is a consideration they are taking into account.

You don't ignore it completely, but if you start speculating what the cap will be in 6 years and start taking lesser players in order to have smaller cap hits then you won't be a GM in 6 years.

I was wondering if we'd bring him in. Good guy to sign for 2-3 years if he's cheap. Gives you some flexibility with Foster in the future.

Someone should post the recent tweets between him and JJ Watt.

Im down for Brown...would be a nice, cheap deal for someone that can fill in nicely for Foster.

There is still lots of decent talent left to fill in some holes in free agency.

Texans should bring in Pat Angerer for a workout if he is healthy. Seems like a good fit next to Cushing IMO. He should be a cheap ILB option.

He's on my list of "wants" based on what's available. He can be a solid pick up, just like Brown.

Angerer and Mercilus are bad@$$ linebacker names, too bad one of them can't play and the other needs to stay healthy?

I think the jury is still out on Mercilus... Have to take under consideration that he was a hand in the dirt defensive lineman trying to learn to play standing up. The kid does have talent. Hopefully the new coaching staff can help him get it together.

Mercilus doesn't suck he's just inconsistent. When he's on he's awesome, when he's off he's invisible
