First 3 starts.... The Big Unit - 25 IP / 0.72 ERA / 33 K / 4 BB / 2 SO Verlander - 21 IP / 0. 86 ERA / 26 K / 3 BB
Yesterday at the game was fun. Today I got to see the man and see our kids make history. First team ever to win division titles in 3 different divisions. Verlanders pitches in person from behind home plate, just wow. No idea how anyone hits him. Just filthy.
In actual fact, I was only there for the last 3 innings. Due to a family misunderstanding my Mom said I couldn't go to the game when I asked the night before. But then she came and got me and my stepbrother from our 7th-grade football practice when our Pop called her and said, "Mike Scott's throwing a no-hitter. Get them here quick!" Scott had the scuff of legends.
Scott's was the fourth no-hitter where I had tickets in my hand and didn't go. My wife had a business trip to San Diego so we gave the tickets to my wife's mother and grandmother. They had a great time. We had tickets to Ryan's no hitter, but my brother in law got married. Had I known it would be wedding one of four, I would not have gone. Had tickets to Ken Forsch's no-hitter but didn't go, because the Rockets were playing the Spurs in a big late season game rather than an early season baseball game. Had tickets to Dierker's but gave them up and did something stupid instead.
When I got to the game today, I saw Julia and thought, "Damn, what happened? She looks like she just rolled out of bed." Hair in a bun, no makeup, clothes kinda ratchet. Wasn't until after the game that I realized the deal. She knew what was gonna happen in that celebration and she DGAF about getting all done up for that.
My dad always complains about Rafael Ramirez from preventing him from seeing a Mike Scott no-no (perfect game actually). They broke it up with 2 outs in the 9th that never would have happened if not for 2 errors.
