I dont think we stand any chance to win this series if we end up going back to LA for games 6&7 down 3-2. So we have to be up 3-2 to have a chance. That will be very difficult if we dont split the first two.

What a day that was. I was up all night the night before dealing with financial aid stuff for school, found out the next day I hadn't submitted all the stuff for my major on time and my graduation was going to get pushed back 6 months. I fell asleep so mad at the world and woke up in inning 7 of a fiers no hitter! Haha overall best day ever

the topic is post season play, the world series, no?

u got the facts wrong; in the regular season, except for Chapman, NYY had a lousy bullpen, that's why they traded for several bullpen specialists before the deadline, which have pan out for them

Not much recent history between the Dodgers and Astros, so it’s a challenge to get some back story on how this might go. If it goes well, say we are up 2-0, or even 2-1, we’ll be looking squarely at the Dodgers abandoning ship. And Kershaw in games 4 and 7. At that point We have to ask ourselves how we can finish by game 6 to avoid a Morton-Kershaw game 7.

If it goes poorly and we are down 0-2, or 1-2, think we need to seriously roll the dice with a 3 man rotation of McCullers, Keuchel, and Verlander simply because Kershaw will likely win game 5 and that 3 man rotation has the most potential to navigate 4 wins in 5 games.

Kershaw is the greatest pitcher of this generation and is the most unhittable pitcher since Roger Clemens' prime, but you can get to him in the post season if he's overworked. We can do this.

Kershaw is an average pitcher in the post season.
    6-7 with a 4.4 ERA
You can't up and assume he is going to dominate the Astros.

    I wouldn't mind a tandem start from Morton/McCullers in game 3/7.

Why is Kershaw pitching game 7 but not Keuchel?

There are 7 games left in the season; rest is for losers. You can't be irresponsible but the expectation entering the series has to be Keuchel for games 1, 4 and 7. Verlander 2 & 5. I will be flat-out floored if McCullers doesn't start game 3, in Houston. That lines up perfectly for him. Game 6 is a wait and see but probably McCullers again.

I'm not sure Keuchel pitches 3 games in the series (I'm okay with Morton/McHugh taking one of those starts) and I don't start McCullers on the road. He's money at home though, so game 3 or 4 and then as a reliever for the rest of the series.

Now, if McCullers has that NASTY curveball of his working then I may be convinced you can start him in LA.

I feel like the offense is due for a frenzy. Would be nice if we just went smash city in games 1 and 2

The best offense in baseball vs the best pitching staff in terms of numbers. Gonna be interesting indeed. Even more so becuase their offense is no slouch either.

So we're going to pitch Fiers in one of these games just to mess with them right?

I see this series as a toss-up; two great teams, the best in baseball. The Astros need a split of the first two. Anything could happen, but I think the Astros have a very good chance of winning the series. I will be shocked if they lose four games in a row like the White Sox series. I will be equally shocked if they beat the Dodgers four in a row.

I would not be shocked at anything because this is baseball. But this team really does have the feel of a team of destiny. I hope I'm right.

Why is one of your aces getting kid's glove treatment? IT'S THE WORLD SERIES! If they're up 3-0, maybe you push him & Verlander back to normal off days. Otherwise, he pitches three games. Remember: game 4 is in Houston where he'll have a raucous crowd behind him - lots of adrenaline. No home crowd in game 7 - but it's game 7.
