The plumbing in a bathroom is designed for certain physiological traits. The sign on the outside should have a penis or a vagina and have nothing to do with gender.

Misses the mark. Opposition says its not about the trans people at all, but the heterosexual males who will pretend to be trans so they can exploit some girls. They go on to say that it is okay to discriminate against transsexuals in an effort to deter the criminal intents of this wholly separate group of people. I'm sympathetic to your position, but making arguments that don't address their objections won't cover much ground.

Most of the opposition I have heard isn't a fear of someone transgender assaulting of attacking a woman or child in the restroom. Most of the concern has been that any male can walk into the ladies room and not be questioned or asked to leave.

There are bigger concerns anyway. People will "get over it" long term and accept the trend. However the framing of the issue by someone is interesting.

 

If only they had some sort of law to deter people from and punish people for such an act as a pre-meditated killing. We should seriously consider starting a thread about such a novel idea.

What bigger concerns? Is the Supreme Court too busy to wrestle with the merits of using the Redskins name, and police officer demotions to deal with wholesale irrational differences in how the law treats categories of Americans, especially in cases where federal law conflicts with state law?

 

Not a problem? Says whom? In most cases up to this point in time, if you or I walked into a ladies room and attempted to use it, we would be asked to leave.

Are you still relying on a study that had an unbelievably small sample size and characterized someone pointing out that the transgender person as in the wrong restroom as harassment?

I wasn't talking about the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court exists to hear cases such as these.

I was talking about the American people in general. Whether or not .003% of the population feels uncomfortable using the same restroom that they have used since birth comes well behind concerns such as job, bills, relationships and what to do on the weekend.

Although I find the concern/push over gender neutral/trans gender restrooms odd, the momentum is for them to exist. People will get used to it and worry about other things. It is only a matter of time before it becomes the norm.
