Anyone that thinks this was about justice and not about Trump taking a shot at Comey is kidding themselves.

 

Of course I can. pardoning an outright traitor drew a "on the surface this is troubling" out of you. Pardoning an unrepentant terrorist drew nothing but silence from you. Pardoning someone who let slip the identity of a former covert operative drew a "Such a piece of ****" remark out of you....

I think it's pretty clear the effect tribalism plays when it comes to how worked up you get about things in the news.

Trump is free to pardon whoever he wishes. However, the case against Scooter Libby was a slam dunk case that the guy was guilty.

Whatever reason Trump pardoned Libby, it wasn't to correct a mistake or for justice. Trump had to have had other reasons.

Who cares if he pardons a famous grown man named "Scooter"?

There's a whole bunch of federal inmates who just might actually deserve a commutation or pardon too. Talk about them.

He was convicted on 4 of the 5 counts he was charged with. Which of those 4 are affected by this?

Fitzgerald knew within a week of his investigation that Armitage was the leaker. But Armitage wasn't the political target, so he was never charged.

Fitzgerald wanted Cheney's scalp, and when he had nothing after absurdly keeping the investigation open for years, had to settle for charging Libby with a process crime to save face.

 

Trump admitted that he was not familiar with the details of the Libby case, just that an injustice was done.


How I long for a President who can read.

 

Well we live in a strange world where there is a sizable part of the population that feel education is a bad thing and not to be trusted.

 

No, Libby was guilty of crimes which is why he was convicted. You can make up whatever revisionist tale you'd like, but it doesn't really mesh with the actual facts.
