Saw the movie earlier today. It's one of the most honest assessments I've seen of life in the US. It's about a typical American woman who lives the typical suburban life with the cookie cutter husband. Emotions are replaced by the numbness of monotony, spontaneity sends off alarm bells and an overall lull prevents people from questioning ... their very existence. Then, out of the blue, heaven smiles down on her. She crosses paths with a European man, and everything goes to ****. Everything she thought .. she knew .. flies out the window. Tall, dark, handsome and rough around the edges, she experiences what it's like to be with a man out of something other than sympathy. To be alive, and free, and desiring something other than terracota tiles, wooden floors and the best day care a mid level salary can buy. To this point, she only knew the black guys on her college football team who had the physical part down; but they could never cut it mentally. Now, she was completely dominated on all levels. She had no option but to keep having affairs with him - and no control over her sexual inhibitions. Every elongated object she saw resembled his penis and she couldn't wait to purse her lips around it. The goofy football fan who used sympathy and "just being there" to get laid was a laughing stock compared to all the woman she became around her European friend. Unfortunately, in her mind, she was too old to run away from society and had to end it. Too much happiness and passion was making her a pariah in a society that frowned upon it. Perhaps if she was introduced to European men at a younger age, she could have lived the life every girl dreams of. For now, she had to settle. There was too much set in stone to right her wrongs. The husband eventually murders the Euro, and she is forced to continue her empty, soulless existence knowing how much greener... the grass was on the other side. If any of you have daughters who are good looking, don't let her make the same mistake Diana Lane did. Don't hold her back from experiencing the highest of highs.
dianne lane is so freakin sexxy in this movie. its softcore p*rn edit: this movie doesn't deserve any psychoanalysis its basically a soap opera plot
If you disagree then you are boring too and therefore wouldn't understand. If you agree then you are probably not boring and therefore you fully understand... our very existence. lol hilarious.
