    Dude was phenomenal defensively tonight.

But of course people will talk about that play, but whatever.

when the season is over I really hope somebody makes a video showing how much harden has improved defensively. it really frustrates me that every time he makes the slightest defensive error it is highlighted and put all over vine and twitter

Someone could go through last year's season and splice together 10 minutes of footage to make Harden look like a defensive beast. Pretty easy to selectively edit footage to fit a certain narrative.

Harden's defense, when he gives effort, has been much improved from last season. Everyone can agree on that.

But, when he makes a poor fundamental defensive lapse like that, he deserves to be criticized. As a guard, he's supposed to get back on defense when the shot went up. Instead, he stood flat-footed and gambled, allowing the easy fast break. There's no excuse for that, especially that early in the game when it was still close.

Actually, you are taught to stop the ball, and he took Larkin out of the play...

It was a +1 fast break no matter how you shake it, and the Kicks should've scored no matter what harden did, but, he was intending to foul and completely stop the break, which is the best possible outcome. Heads up play by Larkin.

Oh do shut the hell up with this bull**** .

Harden is one of the better ball hawks in the NBA, which is why he racks up a ton of steals every year. That's your excuse for that. Get your hickory High fundamental defense sermonizing the **** out of here.

Harden gambled and lost even though he had Ariza behind him. Larkin made a nice pass and Ariza didn't foul the ball handler in time. **** happens, but in order to get steals, you have to go for them. Which is how he got 3 tonight.

Of course those 3 don't get put up by the 12 year old over at bleacher report, instead this does and somber peckerwoods can cackle and harrumph like a bunch of Nurse Ratchets. **** that. Enough.

That's wrong. Somebody is supposed to stop the ball. And that's exactly what Harden did.

But anyway, Harden was trying to go for the foul to stop the fast break. It wasn't bad defense... he was trying to foul.

Again, like I said, harden played it perfectly, credit Larkin for instant heads up play.

Yeah social media is eating that up...but it was actually a smart play..He knew the guard would dribble down the middle, so he cut it off ahead of time and played the charge, but the guy dodged him and passed off

 But he didn't take Larkin out of the play. Harden took himself out of the play. I agree that he should've fouled Larkin, but he should have kept his feet back-pedaling to stay in front of Larkin so that there was no clear-path foul. Instead, he stood there flat-footed and gambled for a steal instead of fouling.
He didn't try to take a charge. If he did, he would've kept his arms into his body, but you can clearly see him swipe for the ball. He gambled on a steal.
But the ball didn't stop. So that's not what Harden did.
    He could have fouled Larkin.
Also, to whoever it was, thanks for the anonymous hate rep.
