Ultimate "James Harden Doesn't Play Defense" Video

I don't think the taking charges thing is accurate. What he doesn't do is move his feet on defense, so guys blow by him and he goes for the reach around steal.

barely any playing time, yet draws the most charges. WE NEED MO DMO!

 

This is not an excuse for Harden, but a video like this can be made about any NBA player's defense.... Provided the player has logged a lot of minutes.

 

This is legit concern for us.
Blazers admitted in game 1 one of their strategy was going after Harden during offensive possessions. So let's not ignore this.
I looking to see what we can do in game 2 to counteract this, as well as the Hack a Howard counter strategy.

 

I don't think you can make a video like this about Beverley.

 

I've always felt that Harden's D is terrible and this video proofs it.

I really hope Harden can use this as a motivation to improve on his defence and become the superstar I expect him to be. I am not asking him to have elite defence and I believe an average defence coupled with his elite offence will make him a superstar for the next 10 years.

For those that still believe Harden plays adequate defense, I have a question for you.

How bad would he actually have to play on the defensive end for you to admit that it's a problem? Because I can't imagine anyone playing any worse defense than I've seen from him this season, and especially in the playoffs. The guy is actually pretty decent at post defense because he doesn't have to move, but if you have him guarding someone, ANYONE on the perimeter he opens up his can of quit. Very frustrating to watch as a long time Rockets fan.

I would be willing to bet that Asik could beat him off the dribble more often than not. It's become so bad that Stotts and Portland are going at him on a lot of their possessions and making it even worse for us. But James brought this on himself. I'm glad we have him, but he has to commit on both ends.

Yeah I guess you have a point. We need each of our other 4 starters to guard 1.25 men. We'll set James up with a chaise lounge and a margarita under the goal and hope for the best.

 

Watching Harden lose his man over and over and over makes me wonder how did we ever win as many games as we did? I don't think anyone is asking him to be a lock-down defender or anything, but most of those baskets against him were simply due to him not paying attention to the guy he was defending.

They pulled him immediately after that play. He looked pretty good the other 50 or so possessions, so we've got that going for us.

 

This one video ruined Harden's image for years to come.

 

Good, at least coach K has the balls to pull him out.
