I don't know about that. I could hear an argument that Texas would win, but I don't think they would blow UH out. UH's offense would struggle with a good UT defense, but UT's offense is nowhere near good enough to run away from anyone, much less UH this year.
Toss up game if they played each other this year, UT's defense is wicked good - but so is Keenum.... I would love to see that matchup, but it won't happen. DD
I would absolutely love to see UH play Texas, especially this year, but Texas won't end up in a BCS bowl, too bad.
i think uh would beat ut this year. ut's offense is horrendous. i think that would offset the advantage the defense would have.
No need to pass it when all you need to do is run the ball. You may have forgotten in the past few weeks, but UT has one of the best rushing offenses in the country. Unfortunately, against Missouri, we were down to the 4th string RB with our best WR out, allowing them to overload the box. UT played a very similar team in Texas Tech, top 5 in passing and a comparable defense. Tech was demolished. The Texas secondary would give up some big plays, but they would stop UH more than UH's front 7 would stop the rush.
Thread is stupid. There are UTEPers in El Paso, UNTers in Denton, SMUers in Dallas and a bunch of others asking the same thing. There are only so many games Texas can play in Texas and Texas is not avoiding UH because they are scared. (Didn't I see one of those signs pop up on my TV during the Aggie game?)
UH is no Texas Tech, not this season. My word people, be real, why do you think I would LOVE to play UT this season? Because it would be like the old SWC days. UT underestimated Houston then and you guys are doing the same thing now. Speed was the difference then and it would be the difference now. No contest, not this year.
I like how this gets bumped after UH kills Tulsa who has had similar results to UT. There is no way UT fans can say they would be UH, ya'll beat A&M in the state of Texas irrelevant bowl because both teams are jokes this year. Let UH enjoy their success, in the next 3 years UT will be a power house again and can talk smack to anyone, buy as of today ya'll are just a mediocre team that is only in the top 25 because of name recognition and T-shirt fans around the nation.
I'd love to have UT play UH, too. It would be great to see how the UH offense would fair against a great defense. Looking at the matchups objectively, I think the scales tip towards UT's favor. There is a huge mismatch when you look at the rush offense of UT versus the rush defense of UH. Are you UH fans going to offer any type of argument other than UH being undefeated in the CUSA and being speedy? Those aren't real convincing arguments considering how hard it is compare and quantify.
It's a better argument than 7-4 and "We're Texas". Anyway, dumb thread is dumb. Hypotheticals don't interest me. Somebody bump this thread when Deloss Dodds dies.
Going undefeated with any schedule is impressive. If it were easy, more non-BCS would be doing it. Hopefully UH can join the ranks of Utah, Boise, and TCU in that regard.
Agreed, but nobody on UT's side is making that argument. I've provided stats and looked at overall matchups. Even when I do that, UH fans are quick to dismiss that and claim stats don't matter when evaluating teams. Everyone makes predictions based on hypotheticals. How do you think your team will fare against your upcoming matchup? You make a hypothetical assessment based on previous applicable performances. So howcome a hypothetical matchup assessment can't be done to compare UH and UT to one another if both sides keep trying to size up the other? P.S. It's funny that CCorn makes fun of UT "t-shirt fans". Why is it only this year that so many people are supporting UH and buying their shirts to wear around the city? I wear my school colors proudly, during bad seasons and even after terrible losses like the BCS championship game.
I just look at UTs results to OU and OSU and Tulsa results to those teams. Then look at how UH did against them to form my opinion. Anyways that's great you go to UT and have school pride, I have nothing against that. Never called you a T-Shirt fan.
You can also take a look at the scores from both teams they each played, that being Rice and UCLA. UT did much better against UCLA, and I think they played Rice better than UH did, although that's arguable both ways (UH had a higher scoring margin, UT quadrupled their score and limited them to less yards).
I will say they played good against UCLA, I would say UT's best game of the season. But their coach doesn't even have faith in their offense.. Although that might have changed after this last game, MCcoy stepped it up.
