U.S. transportation chief: Houston needs to 'get its act together' on light rail

    Right on. Have any of you been on the subway in Washington, DC? DC is a high poverty area, but their subway system is one of the cleanest in the world. Why? Because they are strict and monitor them heavily... in fact this is a sign in the subway there.

    If metro was proactive and did their jobs, people wouldn't be afraid (or to disgusted) to ride the light rail or city buses.

    Light rail connects our two largest and densest employment centers together while high speed rail wouldn't do the same. Putting transit where people is the most logical step. P&R would be much better for suburban commuters.

    Chicago is not Houston.

    No, workers from inside the loop and suburbanites use it. Parking is expensive in downtown and the Med Center and scarce which is way light rail works for some people.

    People assume public transit should be convenient for everyone but it is not.
