They're playing like they have nothing to lose. It is going to get extremely physical out there. We just need to be smarter and stronger.
Already in the playoffs we have seen injuries to two prominent players due to dirty play by the inferior team. Kevin Love has his shoulder in a sling now, and Conley is trying to get the swelling down on his eye to a manageable level where he might feasibly be able to play with a mask, Westbrook- Kobe- or even Rip Hamilton-style. The point here is that, when the teams start doing whatever they can to try to compete against a clearly superior team, they start going dirty. Dallas has done just that, and we need to make sure above all that we make it out of this series with all our major players intact. It was a good decision not to go all out for the game in Dallas. Now let's use the home crowd momentum to put them away for good Tuesday night. We have the advantage of foresight, by looking at the other teams around us. Let's not suffer the fate of Cleveland and Memphis, or say the Rockets of 2009. We gotta tell our guys to watch out for the dirty hits, the loose ball fouls, all the opportunities for injury, and instead to win the game out of our sheer talent advantage. Play a smarter game, move the ball, make shots, and demoralize them early. Let's not give the worst among Mavericks fans anything to cheer about as their team goes down.
I really find it hard to believe the NBA didn't suspend Chandler for this. It was obvious that he took a swing at Howard - regardless of Howard's physical play prior , you take a swing at another player the rules clearly state ejection and suspension are mandatory. I would really like to have been a fly on the wall during the league discussion on this and how they came to the conclusion that he did not throw a punch. It appears to me that the rules only apply when they want to apply them , just like all the flops in this series the only fine is on Jason Terry ?! .... Yeah he flopped but there should be a dozen or more fines handed down against the South Oklahoma MavTricks on top of that fine on Terry. The officiating has been heavily in favor of Dallas the entire series .... I really wonder how the Rockets will fare against SAS or LAC in this regard .... should they advance. I could see the refs manufacturing an epic comeback by the Mavs .... cause if any city can go up 3-0 and lose , its a Houston team (35-3 and lose to a backup QB ?!).
A swing is a swing. Its crazy it hasnt been addressed. U can bet if it was dwight it would have gone totally different... Its funny how ricks childish acts has the nation sold on the rockets playing dirty....
ca·dav·er /kəˈdavər/ noun: cadaver; plural noun: cadavers a corpse. synonyms: corpse, body, dead body, remains, carcass The Dallas Cadavericks!! lol. Stick a fork in em!!
I love this. This is what makes sport great. I also love that Tyson is not suspended. It's the playoffs and players would do whatever within limits. Stop pussifying this sport just like pussified eggball. Real men play basketball. Dwight is a real man, much more than those complaining here. When asked about it, Dwight said " I WANT HIM TO PLAY" END OF.
I am also surprised that they didn't suspend him. I wonder if this signals a different approach under Silver than we had under Stern. I think keeping Chandler in is the reasonable and fair call when looking only at the incident. The punch was half-assed, completely ineffectual, and probably not malicious. The only reason why a suspension should even be considered is the zero-tolerance policy the league has on fighting. Does refusing to enforce the zero-tolerance policy in cases where a punch was no big deal undermine the deterrence to fighting and invite bigger problems later? Maybe; I don't know. Anyway, I'm happy to have Chandler in. Already with Rondo and Parsons out, Mavs fans are going to be saying that they were beat by misfortune and not the Rockets. I'd rather minimize the number of excuses they have.
It all comes down to this, if the NBA suspends Chandler, the mavs are done. Series over in 5 gauranteed and they don't want that. They want the series to stretch as long as it can, so no suspension for chandler, gives the mavericks a little more hope.
You can call it "eggball" and "pussified" all you want, but I guarantee if you took a hit from ANY NFL player even once, you'd never call it "pussified" again.
Chandler seems like a punk, a bad guy. Always starting S*** and trying to look all hard when he dunks. I'm glad we have a guy like dwight who is bigger and can bully him and won't take S***.
