Traveling to Kenya and apparently they recommend getting a typhoid shot at a minimum. My insurance does not cover the cost of the shot. Anyone know of a place I can go to get this shot for cheap? My Doctor wants to charge me $80
Definitely get it at least a couple of weeks in advance of your trip. Due to problems with the oral vaccine, I got the shot one week before arriving in Nairobi and on the first full day in Nairobi, I felt miserable.
I had to get one in order to get a visa years ago, and like bobrek suggested, it can make you feel lousy for a few days. I did. So yeah, get it well ahead of time.
Call Casa de Amigos, St. Joseph Clinic, or some of these clinics intended for low-income peeps... you'll have to wait in line for a couple hours but that's going to be the price you have to pay to get it cheaper. If you're going to Kenya and can afford the ticket, why can't you just pay the cost of the shot or ask the people that are sponsoring you to pay for it?
make sure you get it before you go at least a week or so before ur trip...the UT Houston deal might be the best option...
