It's annoying but it's really the source material, not a lot they can do to change it. The speed force works in mysterious ways LOL
90% of the the show's resolutions is . . .RUN FASTER!! Not the Speed Force is talking to him and counselling him and made him the CHOSEN ONE (I hate CHOSEN ONE stories) They have added VIBE THEM to their list of answers for everything. I get the feeling that now he is FASTER THAN EVER AND FASTER THAN ZOOM Which is annoying because it is an unearned power boost. At this point . .. i think the man in the Mask is Barry's Dad Rocket River I mean . . WTF not
Like most TV shows, if you are not building toward something, then the fun wears off a little over time. And seems like Flash is no different. They need to get us back on a path. Like if he was unable to save superman when he falls off the building and dies. But spends the whole season unraveling what happened up to that point, and then is faced with whether he can save him when time gets back to that moment. That would draw me in for a season. If they could sink into movie moments like that it would start connecting things nobody thought to connect. I'm still watching because it is more or less entertaining tho'.
They're leading up to the final battle with Zoom, the reveal of the masked man behind the glass, and whether or not Jesse and Wally will become speedsters, this season. I'd say those are some attention-grabbing-and-keeping storylines.
I'd say the journey to those storylines has been crap. Barry gives up his speed to Zoom to save one person only to make Zoom unstoppable until the speed force wants to give Barry back his speed to stop Zoom, because the speed force is a sentient thing. Speed force moves the plot because speed force determines it.
I agree that the Speed Force intro was too...convenient? If the Speed Force can give someone super speed, why can't the SF do something negative to Zoom?

That line about the SF being there when the Big Bang happened, and how they will be there when everything ends... Time Masters v. SF, Legends of Tomorrow season 2? Can it not? I mean, it feels like the writers can make the Speed Force do whatever they write, at this point. I've next to no knowledge about SF in the comics, but in the show, this is really the first time SF has been fleshed out in the show, and they don't really explain the specifics of it. If Zoom had his own speed, and now pre-"death" Barry's speed, would the SF need to augment Barry to be able to beat that speed, or did they just reset his speed to the level it was, pre-"death?" If the SF is so sentient, why does it allow Barry to get his speed back, but essentially turn a blind eye to Zoom being allowed to kill people? SF has to have a plan, of sorts, for Barry, no?
Stop caring much about the show after the idiotic storyline of Barry giving Super Evil mass murdering Zoom his powers for the return of wally, with little to no reservations. This was compounded with the nearly as idiotic storyline of Barry and others immense struggle with the decision to attempt to recover his power in order to stop Zoom. So... give a mass murderer the power to mass murderer entire worlds/planets/dimensions for the return of Wally - no problem, easy decision. But... try to recreate particle explosion to recover powers to stop said mass murderer... hmm tough one.
Since Supergirl is coming to the CW, how crazy would it be if they did a season of Crisis on Infinite Earths? All 4 DC shows (leave izombie out of it) would be in on the event. It's a perfect storm. they should just go for it. Shorten the lengths of the season orders to make the budget stretch further.
I think someone pointed out . . .when you start adding time travel and alt dimensions to a show . . . .. it minimizes the impact of any death In this case everyone knew Barry wasn't dead or going to die The Zombie guy was a bit weird. I was kind of surprised they didn't even consider trying to 'save him' It was all NOPE .. . Kill him again Sam Rocket River
LOL, yeah, I was kind of rooting for Zoom to just instantly murder them all and roll credits once that happened. It's like how the "battle of wits from The Princess Bride should have happened. https://youtu.be/tagTX514yqw
Naw I don't think the time travel is an issue, it seems essential to the flash universe. Its the idiotic writers that somehow convinced themselves that Barry giving up his powers to zoom was in any way logical or would go over well with the fans even in the realm of fiction. They built up the asskicking repeatedly and when Barry finally has a chance an zoom has his guard down by giving wally back....Barry stands there and gives it to him.
