This is from a much more detailed stat table from 82 games.com. Let us just focus on the western conference team that we will face on our way to the championship. I am going to stick to the majority of the categories to keep this simple ( up to date till end of March)

    Defensive Turnovers
Team 24 sec Offensive fouls Bad Pass Lost ball Travel

    Dallas 44 169 388 181 92

    San Ant 38 146 387 224 102

    Phoenix 36 224 400 164 116

    Houston 36 130 386 262 102

    Utah 23 185 342 271 103

    Offensive Turnovers

    Dallas 49 128 358 215 79

    SA 33 117 369 246 89

    Phoenix 35 141 464 171 100

    Houston 37 116 435 200 100

    Utah 31 153 445 237 98

I do understand that we need to limit turnovers- no doubt about that logic- but it seems that we are not that bad compared to others we will be facing.

go to knickerblogger.net. We are actually in the top half in the turnover catagory (9th per 100 possessions). Thats not bad at all.

True! But this gives a more detailed break up of where the turnovers are actually happening. What is counter intuitive is Phoenix turns over as much!

Phoenix is a high possession team: up and down --> more total possessions/per game for both teams. That "artificially" inflates their numbers. Looking at them in a "per 100 possessions" light is the most informative way. Their high number of offensive fouls makes sense for the same reason.

As a team that rarely attacks the basket, it's no surprise that we commit the fewest offensive fouls out of the bunch.

Phoenix games have more possession per game. You really need to compare the percentage of possessions that end in a turnover.
