I remember any time that "Sadie" song came on, slightly more than half of the Baytown Lee field house would stop benching triple plates and start singing along, so not surprised. And that OJ verdict was like winning state.
"The death of Tupac was like the death of your homeboy." ^This is hilarious!!!! Seriously???? Did the person who said this actually meet Tupac? Went to dinner at his mom's house? Went to high school with him(well atleast until he dropped out)?
But not implausible. Kurt Cobain's suicide had an impact on many people. I was 17 at the time and I remember it like it was yesterday. I was full-on depressed when Dimebag was murdered. Music has a huge impact on people is all I'm saying.

No matter what you are battling I always felt that sports is one of the few places you can forget. You focus on the game, you forget everything else. But football is more strategic, so maybe they couldn't prepare adequately. Who knows.
I can't speak personally as far as the reaction to Tupac's death because I was never a fan of him or rap in general during that time period, nor can I say I was surprised that a rapper would be killed....hell, Dre and Eazy had been rapping about killing each other long before this happened, so....maybe I didn't see it as surprising. I don't know. I'm just saying that it doesn't matter who it is or what else you've got going on, from genre-defining stars to friends, parents, whoever, when it hurts, it hurts.
