    This.

I remember at the beginning of the COVID pandemic the talking point was that Obama "let" more people die from H1N1 than COVID.....

I will just point out that I heard a lot of Libertarians and some Republicans say that Sweden handled the pandemic perfectly....... the reality is that Sweden has so far had a higher death rate and infection rate than the USA and their economy still has suffered. This all while Sweden has been more predisposed to naturally social distance and follow guidelines than the USA.

have you noticed even the repugs here have stopped trying?

Its no longer debate and discussion but now unapologetic outright extremism.

That is why everyone needs to vote.
Can you imagine how this country will be if trump wins again? You think then it would be less overt?

Sweden is also predominantly blonde haired and blue eyed, which is high on the science list of importance to some people who disagree with pandemic sciencing.

It's no wonder Australia has such low numbers of cases compared to us. They take action quickly, instead of waiting until things are out of control. We didn't learn from Italy, and we didn't learn from NYC.

    Victoria Australia (population 6.6 million)
    Coronavirus cases 2,663 / deaths 22

    Harris County (population 4.6 million)
    Coronavirus cases 37,776 / deaths 401

Yesterday Victoria had 137 new cases, which sounded alarms to take action and prevent the spread. Meanwhile, Harris County had 1,179 new cases and not only is there no lockdown but the Governor wants to bring the State Republican Convention to our city in less than 2 weeks.

If only we had a President who cared more about the spread than his reelection. To make matters worse we have Dan Paxton and Greg Abbott drinking his Kool-Aid on a daily basis.

It's not a good time to be a Texan.

I am split on schools reopening for children.

I do find it funny that Trump has abdicated the control to the governors yet seems to find it necessary to still tell them what to do...... from opening up too soon, to cutting COVID testing and now to open schools........ he wants the cover of states choosing while still making the decision behind the scenes.

The problem he is going to run into is that in states like Florida and Texas and Arizona, the governors are not going to want any overt connection to Trump.

I am sure this will be a balanced dialog... one of the parents is the co-founder and national coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots, and a columnist for The Washington Times.

Well, unfortunate for us Texans we have Abbott, who is just a jellyfish of a man, and will do exactly as Trump wants. Just like a jellyfish, he has no brain and no backbone.

    American schools start in August?

Then there is no reason to fret over this no matter what is decided.

By August things will be vastly different.

Florida and Texas and other states are on the express train to hell.
They can make all the plans they want but by then you all will be in lockdown and the one making decisions will be the virus.

All I hear from everyone is they need to go back. It's time. Businesses need schools to open. Etc. I get everyone is tired and want to get back to normal but what is the plan? Have they talk to all staff and teachers? These are just the higher ups that won't be dealing with kids on a daily basis. I want to hear from the real teachers, not a private catholic school teacher.

I guess to be on this expert panel you have to start off by praising the president.
