Trump's whole "I have the power over to do anything" shtick is just another Trump ploy to get the media to get worked up for 24 hours as a distraction. Trump WANTS the fight between Dem Governors as a reality TV show because he believes that it helps him politically. He wants so bad for it to look at though Governors like Gretchen Whitmer are in a battle with Trump over nonsense in hopes that it drives down Dem support in November. This is a show for political gain, and shame on the media for not treating it as such. They should just call him out and say that if he actually read the constitution he'd know that he actually does not have the power to order them illegally on such order, and then leave the conversation. Trump will NEVER stop being Trump. I don't know why folks and the media have yet to figure this guy out. He needs to be ignored at all costs.
Donald Trump should have been impeached, and we could have had a more mature reaction. But the GOP has been bought and paid for by Russia, and the NRA, and big business, and therefore is beholden to graft over doing the will of the people. The GOP needs to be voted out, rules changed to allow EVERYONE a holiday to vote and to vote at home electronically, or by mail and get this country back on track with what the majority of us want.....a good government FOR THE PEOPLE not for big business OVER the people. DD
Trump may not have the constitutional authority to issue such orders. But doesn't he still have the power to force states to do his bidding through extortion (by revoking federal aid)? I didn't watch the clown-show yesterday, but from recaps I kind of thought this is what he was getting at.
There are alot of ways that a president could be petty to punish states that aren't politically friendly to him. He's already doing that with PPE and supplies. The states are having to arm their supplies that are getting shipped to them because the administration has started trying to seize those supplies... For what reason you might ask... Well the obvious one is that he's using FEMA and other executive branch powers to hoard supplies for Red States and the military. He's already using his power to punish blue states, but he still cannot order them to do jack sh$t. And even more than that, he cannot force companies to re-open and take on the liabilities of getting their workers/customers sick, and he cannot order me and you to go out and spend our money on going to the movies, going to a concert, or buying a new car. So he really can only do stuff that looks petty, and politically stupid, but he's not a dictator as much as he's trying to be. Can you imagine if in 2025, Alabama and New York get hit with massive dueling hurricanes at the same time, and President Joe Biden ordered FEMA to hoard supplies from Alabama and re-routed them to New York?? This is what Trump is ALREADY doing, and should be a massive presidential ending scandal. Trump gets away with this because he has us desensitized, and he has gamed the media. People need to wake up, and the media needs to finally learn how to cover this President.
I think that Trump was threatening to hold back "aid" like CV testing. Not to worry though, due to Trump's for-sh*t executive abilities there are no surplus tests, ventilators, PPEs, etc.
Baby Donny no likey when Barry does it. Explains why he tore it down or cut it back. Oh but the liberal tears...PRICELESS. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/obama-pandemic-preparedness-2014/ A full transcript of Obama’s address at the NIH can be viewed here, while the portion excerpted in the video clip seen above read as follows: We can’t say we’re lucky with Ebola because obviously it’s having a devastating effect in West Africa, but it is not airborne in its transmission. There may and likely will come a time in which we have both an airborne disease that is deadly. And in order for us to deal with that effectively, we have to put in place an infrastructure — not just here at home, but globally — that allows us to see it quickly, isolate it quickly, respond to it quickly. And it also requires us to continue the same path of basic research that is being done here at NIH that [Dr.] Nancy [Sullivan] is a great example of. So that if and when a new strain of flu, like the Spanish flu, crops up five years from now or a decade from now, we’ve made the investment and we’re further along to be able to catch it. It is a smart investment for us to make. It’s not just insurance; it is knowing that down the road we’re going to continue to have problems like this — particularly in a globalized world where you move from one side of the world to the other in a day. So this is important now …
It's hard to make Bush Jr. look wise. But here's an article back in 2005 from a President that looked at history and understood the danger. He didn't cut funds and close offices, he increased funding to fight it. https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2005/11/bush-asks-71-billion-prepare-flu-pandemic Trump has less forethought than Bush Jr. He has done a really horrible job.
