Easy for them to defend: Everyone does it so why pick on Trump now? Or Clintons were worse.

It's not a logical argument that will defeat Trump.

    Better are things like this:

Trump is stealing money from our protecting our soldiers to build his wall.

His actions have to be translated into things people care about. I don't think they care that much about his corruption. However if you can link it to what they do care about, then you are in business.

Yes you can link it to what they care about here are a few examples:
    1. Trump says he is for protecting Americans from immigrants taking jobs yet under Trump the H2B visa program (low wage low skill work visas) has been expanded and Trump resorts hires a lot of people on H2B visas.

    2. Trump has had a Muslim Ban which he says is there to protect Americans from Islamic terrorism yet in none of the versions of that ban does it include the country where most the 911 hijackers came from including the masterminds, the country where a citizen of it carried out a terrorist attack on US soil under Trump’s watch, and a country that dismembered a US based journalist in their embassy. This is the same country that Trump boast buys a lot of his toys, pays him catch and fittingly was the first foreign country he visited. It was also the country that Trump vetoed a bill from republican controlled Congress that went against this country. For how much is talked about Russia Trump’s ties to Saudi Arabia are far more damning.

    3. During the height of the Trade war Trump dropped sanctions on Chinese telecom ZTE, for which they were sanctioned for selling technology to US adversaries, the same week that China allowed several trademarks for Ivanka Trump to proceed and the Chinese government invested $500 million in a Trump branded development in Indonesia.

    4. Trump admitted to defrauding charities for veterans to benefit his campaign.

there is much more. These things need to be pounded relentlessly.

The only one of those that has a chance is number 4. The others are far two long. If you can't explain it in a few words, it won't stick.

Even then military families are largely behind Trump. Honestly people have probably made up their mind about Trump already. The few undecided are going to waver on whether they feel Trump has done a good job with the economy.

Dems would be wise to talk about how fragile the economy is and people's pocket books

    Jobs are still low paying.
People are struggling with medical bills and drug costs
    Housing is expensive
This is a repeat of Bush 2 - where the 2nd term sees a bad recession

LOL... thanks for posting an interview with the idiot son. I love how the Pulitzer Award winning journalist "has it in for trump". I also love his scrambled egg of an explanation... "multiple rooms" and they could charge up to $1500... so I guess the trumps are giving the Secret Service a deal by overcharging them "only" $600 a night.

Of course... this could all be cleared up if the trumps showed the bills, or any accounting of the room charges.

Are you saying these rooms are vacant and they couldn’t get full price if they wanted? Seems like a valid argument.

    Wow... what an odd conclusion...

Here are the key takeaways in simple terms to help you follow along...
    1. trump steered more business to his own hotels
    2. trump charged $600 a night per room, despite lies to the effect he was charging extremely low rates
    3. The truth came out, now trump's son is trying to defend and continue to lie about what they charged, all the the time ducking providing a full accounting of what they charged.

    1. Steered or accommodated?
    2. Lies or is it really a discounted rate?
    3. The truth came out or is the truth now out?
Seriously do you think Trump gives two ***** about profiting off of the secret service? Seems like the typical petty crap that the left cries about 24/7.

I don’t think you’re gonna get Motel 6 rates, sorry.

    1. Every time trump travels to one of his properties he is steering secret service and other taxpayer paid staff with him. And the latest count shows he spends between 25-33% of his time at trump properties, so the money into his coffers is significant.
    2. Documents provided to the Washington Post, trump charges up to $650/night for secret services staying at his properties. The trumps say they charge as little as $50 a night. It would seem simple for trump to provide an accurate accounting, but as usual, they don't. Now who do you think is lying?
    3. The truth came out with the Washington Post report.

During his eight years in office, President Obama took full advantage of vacation time, a vast majority of which was on the taxpayer’s dime. So how much in the end did all the trips to Hawaii, Martha’s Vineyard, and Florida cost us? McClatchy DC’s Anita Kumar did some calculating and arrived at some rather stunning numbers, including the grand total: $85 million.

“As America’s first family enjoys its eighth and final vacation in Hawaii, new estimates put the price tag of the Obamas’ annual trip at $3.5 million or more,” writes Kumar. “In total, the cost of the the first family’s personal or largely personal travel during the last eight years comes to $85 million – though that is likely to climb to $90 million after additional records are released,

I guess Trump could have set up some cots.

Of course, the “easiest” way to visit Mar-a-Lago is to become a member. Membership has numerous benefits, such as the use of the formal and casual dining areas, the Trump Spa and Salon, the pool, the Beach Club, the fitness center, and gorgeous state-of-the-art suites, just to name a few. But it will cost you a fortune: A $200,000 initiation fee to be exact, plus $15,000 in annual dues. Oh, and if you’d like to spend the night, you’ll have to pay an extra $2,000.

LOL... you want to go to the "Obama took vacations" story while defending trump's corrupt abuses of travel and hotel costs? Seriously? HuffPost estimates trump's golf costs alone cost American taxpayers $110 million. Forbes Magazine estimates over $340 million over trump's presidency. That's just golf related travel and costs.

Here's a site that tracks just trump's golfing trips: https://trumpgolfcount.com/displayoutings

The GAO reported trump cost tax payers $13.6 million in one one month in 2017... involving just 4 trips by trump to Mar-A-Lago. One month! No wonder trump's treasury secretary is hiding a full reporting of trump travel and related costs until AFTER the 2020 election.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/09/mnu...avel-spending-report-till-after-election.html

mnuchin knows that the obscene amount spent so trump can play golf and recreate at his properties will cost him votes.

That’s insane, if that’s true then that warrants outrage.

I don't have a problem with Trump staying at his properties. I think its a stupid complaint also given he isn't overcharging.

Its just vacationing. Its not like he owns an oil company and switched the government fuel supplier.
