    Are you always this emotional?

All I said was that I understand the argument that says that we will eventually need to take down George Washington statues and rename things named after founding fathers because they were racists as well.

The Confederate flag is treasonous. The Confederate generals were traitors. The Confederate States of America were conquered. We don't see things named after Santa Anny in Texas. I'll stick with that type of argument without making judgments on the people who fought back then or the people trying to keep everything the same today. ***** too complicated for them.

It's against German law to glorify Nazis or promote its propaganda like denying the Holocaust. Can't really say whether that's right or wrong given the situation.

That is critical theory, that's what it wants, Washington is way more important to destroy the memory of than some southern general, Washington is the godfather of american fascism (and that's not hyperbole, that's how they see fascism) in their cult, and these are the kids who a few years ago were saying that bad words are violence and shouting people off campuses, where do you think they are now?

    https://newdiscourses.com/tftw-fascism

Think i'm overstating Washington? Prominent enough to have a blue tick mark at 22 or so, film maker, journalist, this is the type of person writing your news, making your movies

Yep, the single most prominent leader in the fight against actual fascism needs to be destroyed, but yep, Stalin hey, no blood on his hands.

They're trying to take advantage of people's good will.

Yeah I read what you said and I said it was insulting. Now you've proceeded to make the same argument twice.

I consider it a true soft bigotry of low expectations that you believe white supremacists and their fanatics could not handle being judged for their beliefs because it's too complicated for them.

If you look at any historical figure there is a lot of bad with the good. Yes Churchill was responsible for the deaths of many Indians but he was also responsible for rallying the UK and others to defeat Naziism. If you look at everything FDR has done he is our greatest President but he also imprisoned American citizens without due process just based on ethnicity. Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus and manipulated military deployments to benefit his reelection. You have to look at the totality.

Many of the Confederate Generals were brilliant commanders who in many respects were superior to their Union counterparts. For me personally I have no problem with recognizing General Lee as one of the greatest military minds of American history and think his battles and writings should definitely be taught at our military academies. He and others though put that brilliance in service of taking up arms against this country and for a cause that it's heart was wrong. While we should always be careful how we look back at things through modern eyes slavery is definitely one that even many of those at the time didn't agree with. Even Gen. Lee at the end of the war recognized that slavery and racial superiority were institutions that were dying and pushed for the allowing black soldiers to fight for Confederacy with the promise of freedom.

Old guard castaways like Jeff sessions and Bolton hope they shrivel up into non existence.

Kinda enjoying his party eating them up by the mud baby they nurtured and supported.

    A small consolation

As with most other things, trump is on the wrong side of history and most Americans disagree with him...

Mr. Trump said he hadn’t asked his black supporters or the Secret Service agent for their thoughts on removing the names of Confederate officers from 10 Army bases around the country. The president explained his opposition to the move, saying that the bases were named after Civil War generals as a way to help unite the North and the South. The bases were named during a period that began in 1917 and stretched into the 1940s, largely in response to white sentiment in southern states.

“And now you’re going to take them off? You’re going to bring people apart,” he said.

Trump opposes efforts to remove Confederate commanders' names from military bases ... out of respect for African Americans?

should we rename Columbia University (Columbus)? What about Columbus, Ohio?

What about Washington DC? (a double whammy, Washington and Columbus)? Also, Washington state.

It isn't necessarily true of military bases but Confederate symbols were put in place to specifically intimidate black people

Love how people accurately identify traitors when it's the confederacy but can't when it's communist militants.
